Like I said in my post. last AAA GT game was GT3 a Spec. Problem is other racing games started to come out, and GT wasnt all that then. It's still a good series but it's last attempts are not at the forefront of the racing genre. With games like Forza, GTR 2, And we'll see how Shift does it's much harder for GT series to impress. And so far since Forza came along it's lost in Metacritics. |
What really matters is that GT is a much much bigger seller than Forza. We can't really compare sales of the latest 2, GT 5 Prologue and Forza 2 as they were both bundled massively. Forza 2 sold just over 1m before its sales increased massively, most likely due to bundling, but it could have reached 1.5m anyway (though very unlikely), it was only selling 20k a week when bundling happened. On the other hand GT 5 Prologue sold just under 1m in its first 2 weeks, and has sold over 3m. It is quite difficult to tell when it was bundled from the sales graphs, as it had a staggered launch. I am sure there are some errors in this, but it is pretty clear that Gran Turismo is far bigger, especially when you think that all of the proper GT games have sold over 9m
