Like I said in my post. last AAA GT game was GT3 a Spec. Problem is other racing games started to come out, and GT wasnt all that then. It's still a good series but it's last attempts are not at the forefront of the racing genre. With games like Forza, GTR 2, And we'll see how Shift does it's much harder for GT series to impress. And so far since Forza came along it's lost in Metacritics.

When was the last AAA Need For Speed game, then? Let's see:
There's never been one. In fact, only a handful were over 80. Look at Undercover and ProStreet, both under 75.
