That's a huge drop, is there a Wii shortage in US?

Last year the Wii got MK Wii and Wii Fit and Brawl was released just March.

When has games RELEASES ever mattered in the sales of the Wii in NA?

Obviously the typically high Wii sales is due to game's legs. New releases will boost consoles, this is nothing new. Wii didn't stay flat when new games released. Don't understand why you posted this.

Although now different, whatever shipment Nintendo had were sold anyway due to high demands, not games.

Exactly...they need a big game and they'll bring out big Wii shipments and it'll be back up again. Punch Out is supposed to have a big ad budget so we'll see how high Wii sales go up enxt month.

That would matter, but the Wii isn't sold out anymore......

I dont think Punch Out no matter how many pre-orders is going to make much of a bump in hardware sales.   With 23 million consoles sold in the US already the game can sell stellar and since this is a long time Nintendo fan favorite it is pretty certain that those Nintendo fans have a Wii.

I thought all the long-time Nintendo fans jumped ship long ago when Nintendo sold them out and went casual?

 Your kidding? Right?

Nintendo fans jump ship. Thats a good one.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

You guys are missing the wider picture here.

If PS3/360/Wii weekly rates continue to decline and rise at similar rates, month after month nothing is going to change. It doesn't matter if Wii sells 400k or 800k anymore if it keeps outselling the other two systems combined when it costs less to make Wii games, and those games can reach a comparable number of people. The Wii base is 20m in the USA - similar to the size of the SNES base in 1996, with years left to build.

On the other hand, EA Active and Punch Out combined - not alone but combined - seem like as good a combo as anything for building Wii demand. Both games have great ads, and the fortunes of Nintendo/EA largely ride on these games for the quarter so I don't think they are going to fuck mess up the opportunity.

I heard preorder for both games are pretty decent say about 60,000 - 85,000 for EA's game and 90,000 - 110,000 for punch out in NA are these similiar to what information you been getting...

I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

Uh, where did you hear that? Is it one retail chain?

lol! C'mon Star Scream, no stealth trolling.

Last year, Wii had a huge March and April due to SSBB and Mario Kart Wii releasing.  SSBB sold 2.7 million copies in March while Mario Kart WW sold 1.1 million units in April - both moved a shit ton of hardware.  April 2008 saw the benefit of residual SSBB sales and Mario Kart Wii boost.  April 2009 had nothing like that.

But you know this, stop playing dumb!   You always do that.

In april 08 wii sales were just based on supply, even though it sold over 700k that month there still wasn't any wiis on the shelf.
