Forums - Sales - Microsoft: 11.6 Million Xbox 360s Sold

is it me or Neos is referring to VGC as OUR and he's not even a staff member ????

I doubt the number of VGC everyday..... and for that matter any statistical report based on a sample more than a population...... there is nothing wrong with that.... and ioi probably doubt his own number sometime... like anyone doing statistical research.....

good article.... and I do believe the VG number of 360 is off (depending on how are calculated the numbers by MS retailers VGC)....... but not over its standard error.... and is probably off on the other platform too so it's doesn't really matter.....

Good article? The writer couldn't read a press release from Microsoft.

I meant good post sorry.... it's just that people are whining when some one is challenging VGC number... I think it's a good way to remind you that this is just statistical approximation and in no way a holly truth.... and that's vallid for other charts too.....

and for that reason people should be challenging them just to make those approximation more accurate by bringing balence to them.... in a positive way..... that article could be right or wrong it's not the mater... it allows us to remeber that with a different sample or a different way to studdy a same market you come up with different numbers and at the same time be as accurate as VGC or other site with those different numbers....

(i'm not sure you'll get what I meant, in short challenging statistical hypothesis is the best way to make them more accurate/true)

Even if 360 is at 11.6 million sold to consumers, Wii is around that figure as well, and likely slightly higher overall

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Challenging it with a article based on a misreading of a press release has got to be a bad way to do it.

Source Next-Gen.biz

"Microsoft says that more than 11.6 million Xbox 360s have been sold to date, but which home console is leading the next-gen race?

The figure makes for interesting reading. As of June, the platform holder said it had had shipped (not sold) 11.6 million Xbox 360s, but seemingly that batch has now been completely snapped up."

What about that number, real?

Nex Gen Wars is nothing more than randomly set, unmonitored counters.

^ says nothing about ngw there alex.

Woops... I misread the website... My bad... Still though, Nex Gen Wars isn't accurate... And next-gen.biz isn't accurate either, because the Xbox 360 did not sell 11.6 million consoles... Yet...
