multiple discs weren't a problem for the PS1 and several PS2 and Gamecube Games also had at least 2 discs so I don't see how they'll be a problem for modern day consoles. Surely there will be people who'll use this to take potshots at the game (And it seems there already are), but I'm just glad they were willing to make it four discs to ensure the final product reached the consumer in its entirety.

Wow thats sad, and its so early in this gen. Say bye to MGS or FF13, 10 disks would be a bit of an overkill.

Just randomly googling, I saw wholesale costs of dual layer DVD replication at 47 cents a pop for 50,000+ discs. I am sure they are somewhat cheaper for larger companies.

Single-layer blu-ray costs are about 1.49 for 100,000+ discs (costs from about 4-5 months ago). I expect Blu-Ray replication costs to go down too, like any technology. I am curious to know if there is a point where it is more cost-efficient to have a Blu-Ray disc rather than multiple DVD's.

P.S. 4 DVD's is too much. That stuff really pissed me off with games like FF8 and 9 as well as Legend of Dragoon. If one of the discs gets scratched, you are fucked. Don't even get me started if two of your discs are messed up (that happened to me with FF9).

 10 disks?  So those games are going to be on 2 Bluray disks?  Multiple Disks already, and the PS3 has only been out half as long.

 QFT you know what he means.  Realistically speaking, a dual-layer Blu-Ray could probably hold the equivalent of 6 dual-layer DVD's.  I know those sizes don't add up perfectly, but you have to consider redundant security on each disc and recreating the core game engine on each disc, not to mention the space problems a lack of a hard drive would create for a 360 version.

If anyone played the original Baldur's Gate, they'd count their blessings. Bitchiest CD-changing system EVER.

I've never minded multiple disks, when they're used sequentially. Gives a good sense of progress.
