Why can't the gay people be proud of what they accomplished? They have gone from being hunted down, killed, marked als unequal to full civilians, in some aprts of the world with equal rights as to marriage etc. And as of this moment, the movement is still growing. More and more countries allow gays to marry. Countries openly criticise freaking Russia for their stance on homosexuals and more and more people dare to come out. that is an awesome thing for a minority to do and they can be damn proud about it aswell.

The only thing I'd say is that there is a large difference between being proud of your country and that of your sexual preferences.

Are you kidding? Do you truly not see a difference in being a proud American/Canadian/etc. and one who is a proud gay/lesbo?

No I don't, and I think I made it abundantly clear why not. Did you miss the whole point of a minority versus majority thing? Or what the minority accomplished against the majority? Could you please explain to me then what is so different? Aside from the obvious fact that one is a country and the other an orientation. By the way before you start, homosexuality is not a choice, just as it is not a choice where you are born.

If God didn't like gays, why did he:

a) create them in the first place

b) Give some of them so much talent (Elton John, George Michael, Adam Lambert [last one is a maybe])

I think using the Bible as an excuse to be against homosexuality is ridiculous.

In 1 Corinthians 6:9, Paul wrote, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.”

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.”

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

If that doesn't state homosexuality is wrong then I don't know what does. This should only apply to christians though.

I'm surprised, the gay thread managed to get to... 250 or so replies untill the bible-thumpers got in.

Glad to see you know it only affects christians but, I'm still a bit worried on Christian homosexuals. What about them?

I'm an atheist, straight, but I do believe that the only core message of the Christian faith is love eachother, and forgive your fellow man. The rest of the teachings has been made up by men with their own personal agenda.

I'd obviously would try to change him too.Why do you have to be rude?Which by the way who are you quoting because I sure as heck did not say that. I said I think his act of perversion is wrong. How is that a mixed message. Should I hate him? Or try to talk to him.

How about neither? Those of us who are proud in who we are would resent anyone trying to "change" us. To us, that's very rude. Besides, there's the fact that those "reformation" programs don't really work, all they do is put someone back in the closet, hiding their true desire. As for the Bible, those arguments just don't work. It is said that you can read whatever you want out of it; the site's gone, but there was a site that showed how there were more condemnations of heterosexuality than homosexuality? Wouldn't that make being homosexual better?

Truth be told, if you were to try to change him, and he's proud of who he is, you're going to lose a friend anyway. Best thing to do is to not bring it up at all, letting him live his life as he so chooses. Wasn't there also a line "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"? I fail to believe there is any human who believes in such works that has not sinned.
