From what I can see, this wasn't a question and answer. They didn't have to say anything at all on the subject.
Price cut and GT5 same day world wide, is that so hard.
If they really wanted to go balls out PS3 slim/$299/GT5 ww same day release.

Reassuring the shareholders.
Quite simply, Sony can now profit from PS3, so it is time to turn the marketing up.
If PS3 had sold Wii like numbers from the start, it would have taken down the whole corperation. Sony had to play it just right, to were they got the userbase they needed, and saved blu-ray, all while not taking to big of a hit on PS3 losses. Now they are in a position were they can go to the consumers and show them what the PS3 is capable of without the fear of loosing billions.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Not a legitimate excuse. If they were asked the question directly, or if this were an actual shareholder's report or meeting I could understand having to stretch the truth to not appear weak, but there is no gun pointed to their head pressuring them to say anything. It's done under their own accord, and they had the choice to avoid the topic altogether, meaning it never had to come to, and I quote "We're gonna call it quits, we've been well and truly spanked?". You made it appear there were only two choices, and I presented a legitimate third option that could avoid either appearing delusional or weak. That's all I'm trying to say.
I am opposed to any and all spanking proposed in this thread.

Did someone say Spank?
lol
anyway, even if this is just PR gumpf it's still heartening that Sony has at least some faith in their flagship.
I still think that one of it's greatest strenghts has been one of it's major downfalls: that being it's huge functionality, which makes it too complicated for many casual consumers.

so you are saying Sony planned to start sluggish when they released PS3 and have about 20% of the market then planned to have a comeback to have more market share when they can afford to make a profit on the hardware.
I'm glad everything in the business world is going according to all corporate planning.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
