Your making a point while in the process criticising the ps3, we both know the X360 is labelled a shooter box for a reason. I’m a new Xbox 360 owner and 80% of my games are shooters, when comparing the X360 software line up to that of the ps3 one will recognise the sheer diversity found in the ps3 line up. Games on the x360 are saturated with shooters and require innovation and fast. I look forward to hearing your response sir.

I think it has more to do with you becoming accustomed to it being considered a "shooter box" than anything else. When I first bought mine I would only notice the shooter titles for it but there is plenty available beyond the shooting genre my friend.

Try Castle Crashers.

The reason is because I love shooters, and x360 is home to some of the best shooters therefore becoming in my eyes a shooter box, the controller itself ismade for shooters. I think its reasonable accustoming the x360 with shooters.

The Ace Combat needs to be a shooter as well.

I've shot more stuff in the 1 hours I played Mass Effect than the 50 I played MGS4....

If you only define a game as a shooter if you shoot a gun inside it, independantly of what else you can do in the game you will wrongly categorize most games...

Furthermore both Splinter Cell and MGS4 are not considered shooters by either their creator and most review sites...

This is only because Sony has a bigger first party offering.

Bigger first party = more exclusives
The majority of games this gen involve shooting, whether its third or first person. So because Sony has more exclusives, they also have more exclusive shooters. Because shooters sell so well it is no surprise that Sony have more shooters in the top 20 selling exclusives.

But since you are talking about user demographic, not how many shooters does each console have, the thing that matters most is the attach rate of each shooter. Other users in this thread have shown that the 360 wins this by a country mile.

Therefore it is shooterbox rather than shooterstation.

ok I just looked at the top 25 selling games for the PS3 and 360 (multiplatform and exclusives). The results:

PS3 has 6 shooters (7 including MGS4)

There is another interpretation of the data beyond genre. There is no questioning the fact that the 360 has more highly rated games within the genre, and many of these games are among the highest rated on the platform. So are they selling, because they are shooting games, or because they are high quality games.

Halo 3, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, The Orange Box,

All exclusive, and all enjoying a AAA rating according to Gamerankings. So how can we differentiate between quality, and genre. Almost every single highly acclaimed game on the 360 sells millions of copies.

Orange Box is out for PS3, too... just a year later. You can buy it for $9 at Target, but I hear it doesn't work properly.

Is this all an argument over whether or not Killzone 2 sales would be dwindling so swiftly if it was on the 360 again?
