Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were busy playing Lost Odyssey? It's okay, I took plenty of breaks playing that game as well.

Metacritic wise, Chrono Trigger is the best JRPG this gen. The best original JRPG is The World Ends With You. If you're speaking about home consoles only, then it's beaten by Valkyria Chronicles, Super Paper Mario (although I don't consider it to be an RPG), Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Disgaea 3.

By my opinion, it's not the best this gen. From what little I've played of the combat system, Tales of Vesperia already has Lost Odyssey beat for me.

I don't know if it's just me, but doesn't the music for Uhra suck? It sounds really depressing.

Now add the sales per category of those games and you will get a totally different picture that totally invalidates your argument........

Sales of the 4 fps+ 2 shooters in the 360 exclusive list = 23 millions units = 50% of top 20 sales..

Sales of the PS3 exclusives shooters/FPS ( sorry MGS4 is not a shooter) = 9 millions = 29% of top 20 sales...

The 360 owners are indeed more shooters oriented...

Well, I certainly agree on that.  It's the perputation of past image that is always the issue - or challenge to overcome if you look at it that way.  I just wanted to note that while it would be great if everyone could see something is no longer valid it always takes a while for the change of perception to perculate through.

For myself I can for sure say I have no set agenda one way or another.  For the most part I post where topics seem interesting or where I feel I can add another point of view.

Clearly there are posters around, pretty much on any gaming forum these days, with set agendas they will always try and promote - no arguments from me there.

Well true but if you do count multiplats then the entire top 6 selling games (including GTA4) on 360 are shooters.

I will give you credit though. Counting Fallout 3, only 8 of the top 20 selling games on 360 are shooters. So you do have a decent argument.

If we're talking JRPGs this gen, then Valkyria Chronicles and Tales of Vesperia hold the crown for now imo.

This actully proves the myth to be true. Look at Halo 3 and Gears 1&2 sales vs PGR4 and Viva Pinata, Halo 3 is over 9 million, Gears 1&2 are both over 5 million, while Viva and PGR4 are both below 2 million along with most other none shooter based game.
