KZ2 had a better 1st week so there will be a bigger fall at the later weeks as most who wanted it already bought it at weeks 1 and 2 thats not the case for R2 so potential buyers bought it at a later time

So that's why your first post focused on the first couple weeks of each game? Killzone 2 had a big launch, but then the dropoffs were bigger as the weeks headed into the yearly slow period. Demand from consumers went down, and people were pinching pennies. This is why the dropoffs kept coming. Resistance 2 was launched during the holiday season, where people were willing to splurge and spend lots of money over the course of several weeks, so the sales were steady. Killzone 2 will have better legs and it will sell more. Quote me on it. PAL will support Killzone 2 for a long time to come.

this raises the question though if they had not pushed killzones launch back could it have done better and been a 3+ million seller already or would it have gotten lost in the stream of good shooters to come out at that time and sold on par with R2.

Killzone launched 3 months after Resistance 2 and is at the same number of sales, how does that make Resistance 2 have better legs?

Bigger initial boost in sales is one way it can happen. A title sells real well early and then tails off a lot. Another title doesn't start out as fast, but keeps up with larger sales longer term (better legs).

Thanks. That is a DUH for me. I didn't realize "Sales History" linked to anything. Anyhow, it at least generates a graph, if not hard numbers. And I did a graph for both games (going 27 weeks out or so), and also threw in Halo Wars:
Looks like Resistance 2 got Christmas, and Killzone 2 gota brief upspike from Japan sales coming in.

I am not a Sony fan(boy). I just like some titles on the Playstation consoles, and feel that Resistance 2 has gotten a raw deal because Gears of War 2 totally outdid it over the holidays:
