Michael Perry’s predictions
1. Sony will unveil the new PSP
Rumors have been flying all over the internet recently about this new PSP named the PSP Go, which could be true. It’s rumored to be a more compact design with a slide up screen which reveals the buttons. It will also get rid of the UMD drive, which would make everything downloadable; this would help battery life which is a problem with the PSP. This could be the re-design it needs to capture a more broader audience.
2. Team ICO will show off their next title
Everybody thinks this will be kept until the Tokyo Game Show, but I believe Sony will do anything to get this team to show anything about their next title; a teaser trailer or a title would get everybody screaming. It’s been so long since we’ve heard a peep out of that company and I believe E3 will be the perfect time to display to the world what they’ve been working on.
3. Microsoft will have at least 3 huge titles unvealed at E3
Their lineup for the rest of the year is very lackluster, especially compared to what the PS3 has coming up. They do stay tight lipped about their games until they are close to completion. While I do not have any idea what they could be, It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if GTA4 gets a new DLC story and a couple new IP’s get announced.
4. Wii will have another lackluster show
Last years E3 had the fanboys almost to tears. They realized they messed up and decided to have a show that showed off some of their more hardcore games, but even this show was disappointing. I believe they are going to stick with what makes them the most money and that is throwing crap at the casual audience. The one thing that gets me though is even if Nintendo shows off a new Zelda or Mario game, is that enough to make it a good show; I’ll say it used to.
Jim Hargreave’s predictions
1. Demon’s Souls will be available to the US and EU
With any luck, Sony’s Japan Studio will announce a US and EU version of their instant classic; Demon’s Souls, which has been accumulating great review scores from import versions. It’s probable mostly because the option for English language and subs already exists in some Asian versions, making it a very small task to simply box the game up for English-speaking retailers.
2. Team ICO Details
Team ICO have kept quiet this year. Though quizzed during GDC 2009 at a press event, they would still not release any details on any news of them making a new game. E3 should see their project finally unveiled, and if the sheer awesomeness and unique style of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus is anything to go by, the guys at Team ICO might just take the show by storm.
3. Ratchet & Clank Details
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time will get a huge media blowout, including gameplay footage, and the possible announcement of an online game mode, begged for by fans after the huge success of Gladiator and R&C 3. Insomniac may also announced the third instalment of the Resistance series.
4. PSP will have agreat showing
There are so many upcoming PSP titles in the works and there is no doubt that all of these anticipated titles will be either unveiled or will receive huge media exposure. Expect to see LittleBigPlanet PSP, Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, and Assassin’s Creed on the show floor. Also, we may see some sneaky footage of the unspoken upcoming titles such as Undead Knights.
5. Warhawk News
Incognito found huge success with Warhawk, and now at a splinter developer have been sitting at the drawing board, expect the possible sighting of StarHawk.
Jack Patton’s predictions
1. A Final Fantasy 13 update, and a probable estimate to it’s release.
We’ve gotten a demo with the movie, so next step would be to obviously give the world (Or at least Japan) a release date as well as confirming which format the Xbox360 version will take. As in, if it will be compressed and content will be removed and then simple be a water-down port from the PS3 or will they make it multi disk. Another suspicion is that they may remove content from BOTH versions so both games end up the same, something that has happened before and is a bit unfair to PS3 users who shelled out extra cash for there system which by design can store more game onto a disk.
2. EA give new Saboteur details/release date & trailer.
This game was supposed to be out in 2008, and it went off the radar. Since it resurfaced only a few weeks ago it has gotten me very excited. A WWII game that looks fresh and exciting. Packed with tried and tested ideas along with a lot of new and refreshing ones to add to the hype. Saboteur is my pick for the sleeper hit of the year and I think EA are due to give us a new trailer & a estimated release date.
3. Final Fantasy Versus 13 gameplay details.
So far we have main character names, a vague discreption of what is going on and where it is set, as well as some uber badass trailers. But for gameplay? Nadda, zip, null, jack-s**t and so on. We’ve known about this game for probably over two years now and still haven’t gotten anything more than ‘It’s PS3 exclusive and will be similiar to Kingdom Hearts but with a lot more darker emphasis on action, as seen in Advent Children.’ That’s all very nice, now can we PLEASE see it?
4. Rockstar announces it’s PS3 exclusive franchise.
Since being granted the right to take GTA off exclusivity, it’s been confirmed SONY & Rockstar have come to terms for a new franchise that will be exclusive to PS3. This wasn’t a fanboy move or anything, Rockstar wanted to move GTAIV & onward to multi-platform but would still like prime development kits to create a game using everything Blu-Ray disk & the CELL processor have to offer. It’s obviously going to be a long way off, but I’d like to here a name or a trailer please.
Evan Newton’s predictions
Ever since I was was old enough to realize what E3 was, I’ve been driven crazy with thoughts of going there myself one day. This year, once again, bold predictions and foolish fanboy quibbling is all I get yet again. So based on my years of reading about E3, and more recently, watching televised coverage and internet clips of this fantastic
parade of all that is gaming, I present to you…. Evan’s E3 Predictions!!!!! (insert boomy echo here)……….. (end echo.)
1. Nintendo WON’T let it’s fan’s down, any of them!!
We know how Nintendo has jumped on the “soccer mom” crowd like mold jumps on wet clothes, but i have a sneaking suspicion that even the hardcore nintendofiles will walk away from this E3 with boners-in-pants. Sure, we’ll see some more games that use the Wii-Fit board, lots and LOTS of talk about the new peripheral that add’s more feeling to their waggle (the Wiimotion plus add on), and of course some really cheesy and awkward moments on stage from the regginator, these are par for the could. I just have an inkling (christ, i think it’s a prayer…
) that the big N will make me smile with some mouth-watering future title announcements. Why? Because every passing day they are losing their strong sales foothold, which started to slump in Japan early this year and it’s shifting it’s way over here. Nintendo knows it’s time to bring their A game. S**t or get off the pot, Nintendo!!
Please?
Sony will have an amazing show
Sony WILL show off the next generation of the PSP, and there will be NO UMD onboard. This rumor has been swirling around the web for quite sometime now, and it stuck with me since i saw that dope mockup that was supposedly fan-designed but looked like a marketing department’s wet dream to me.. 2 Things Sony - More PS1 games on PSN!!! i love reliving childhood memories, and what better way to do it than on something this hot! Also - GIVE ME A REAL WEB BROWSER!! You can’t load modern po… websites on the PSP’s defunct browser and I only wanna leave the house with one device ( see iPod Touch for ideas, ok?). I think i want this to be real because i’ve always believed in the PSP and what it stands for - slick looking 3D games on a giant screen! That and I’ve owned 6 different PSP’s back in the day, so why would this change now? Ok, ok, I owned that many because I was obsessed with homebrew’s and emulation. You got me. despite this fact, I’ll be in line the first day this sexy mo fo goes on sale, just like i was for the original PSP release back in 04′ and just like I was 2nd in line for the Xbox 360… And with that…
M$ will confuse the hardcore with it’s shameless attempts to ignore them, while simultaneously jerking them off.
ok, looks like I have to explain this one a little better. The HXC boys n girls will get teased with some juicy ODST vids, maybe even a gameplay walkthrough, BUT NO DEMO, in typical halo fashion. I even suspect they might get you to pay to play that demo, just like they did the last time… remember that one kids? And i say f**k you, personally, if you didn’t give Crackdown a chance, that game was as fun as touching boobs. We’ll get more E3 exclusive demos like we did last year, but i think once again it will be capcom who’ll deliver the big guns here, since they have some new titles hitting soon. And I predict MORE BORING, STUPID, LAME presentations from M$, pulling from the big N’s playbook. They’ll show us more peripheral based nonsense that no one really wants…. and probably show the rumored Motion controller that’s buzzing around the internet like flies on s**t.
We’ll see some hot booth babes this year
I really hope this happens, mainly because I appreciate the beauty of the female form. It’s also nice because lots of geeks out there still haven’t seen a girl mostly undressed without the same of paying for it. My brothers and sisters, i feel your pain. Maybe there will be the male equivalent of booth babes at this E3…. Hobby Hunks? Game Guys? Only time will tell. JUST PLEASE GIVE ME COSPLAY BAYONETTA!!!
