Nice sales for PS3 in Japan. Considering all console worldwide sales are down, Sony have to be quite happy that their console is still keeping in touch with the 360.

Yeah, percentages are pretty useless when talking about such small numbers. Any noteworthy improvement will correspond to a huge percentage...

Not when its such low sales no.
To put into perspective how terrible console sales are:
Between early January 2008 and the first week of May 2008, 1.48 million consoles were sold.
In the corresponding period of 2009, 952k consoles were sold.
That's how bad console gaming is doing in Japan. Nothing is lost since potential system sellers are coming (Wii Sports Resort, other WM+ games, FF13, GT5, MH3)... but right now it looks pretty bad, and those games are urgently needed.

This could also be twisted into:
'OMG, OMG, the Xbox 360 beats the PS3, by 20k! PS3 is doomed.
Now I know the 360 is profitable and all that, but still. 20k ahead being way cheaper isnt all that spectacular, although the 360's YoY increases are fantastic
