To put into perspective how terrible console sales are:
Between early January 2008 and the first week of May 2008, 1.48 million consoles were sold.
In the corresponding period of 2009, 952k consoles were sold.
That's how bad console gaming is doing in Japan. Nothing is lost since potential system sellers are coming (Wii Sports Resort, other WM+ games, FF13, GT5, MH3)... but right now it looks pretty bad, and those games are urgently needed.
