Forums - Gaming - what game should i get killzone 2 or halo 3?

Well, the only way you could have a choice between both is if you have both a PS3 and a 360, and if that's the case I can't for the life of me see why you wouldn't get both.

yes but that would entail being reasonable wouldn't it?

People that are trying to compare Killzone 2 to Halo 3 have got to be having a laugh surely?

Apart from the fancy graphical effects Killzone 2 is PANTS hence why I took mine back for a full refund after a week,

i could say the same thing about halo.  my friend who is an xbox fanatic was so excited to get halo3.  i came over to check it out with him.  the mp was pretty fun alright.  it felt a bit like timesplitters, but with vehicles.  apart from the new vehicles playing it was just like playing halo2...a last gen game.  we game the coop campaign a try, and after 15 minutes i looked over at my friend and gave him a "wtf is up with this game" look.  he said, "yeah this boring me too." and we turned it off.

now i've heard it gets better, but this halo3 for god's sake.  what possible excuse is there for being so bland and boring from jump?

at least killzone drops you in the meatgrinder at start and never lets you out.

The only thing about halo 3 which is a negative is the graphics, although not bad they aren't great either, it's the actual gameplay, features and enjoyment the game provides which has made is so successful, most successful console FPS to date to be exact,

If Halo 4 keeps all the gameplay elements from Halo 3 and added superb graphics there will be nothing that would come close to touching it, if nothing can come close to beating Halo 3 nothing would have a chance against Halo 4 lol,

Thats very reasonable, but he wants one game, not two.

he may indeed know quite a bit about halo, but i ain't exactly new to fps. i think i'll be fine. and so far i've not been impressed.

KZ2 will drown in the PR of what will be known as the next best PS3 shooter. Halo 3 will continue to out live the replay value of most games (which it already has and has proven). If he wants the most bang for his buck, out of the two, only Halo 3 will give him that.

When the PS3 finds a game console game that sets standards like Goldeneye or Halo 3 with the sales and multiplayer numbers to back it, get back to me. KZ2 is great, for a little while, but doesn't last.

those facts speak more of the companies and the franchises than they do for halo3 or kz2.

and it's kind of hard to have the mp numbers without the sales. personally i found the marketing campaign the microsoft did for halo3 to be quite shameful. it worked of course, the cult of halo drank the kool-aid and waited for the spaceship that never came.

sony did next to nothing to promote killzone, and it still sold 750K in the first day. the bottom line is that killzone's mp will be around for a very long time.

the only consideration the OP needs to make his decision is what kind of shooter he wants.

(Halo 3)9 million + owners versus something a little over (KZ2)1 million.....
You pick....
KZ2 has classed based multiplayer which is really good.....

Halo 3 has Dual Wield and the Gravity Hammer which are real good....

KZ2 has Team Play only

Halo 3 has free for all....

Of course its the OP's decision, but Kool-aid is hearsay. Many people have played Halo, enjoyed it and are still playing. KZ2 was a great shooter, but just isn't a cut above the offerings Halo 3 gives. You're speaking based on opinions rather than multiplayer offerings, and track record, and the added fact that Halo 3 is overall more affordable in the long run. He gets a cheaper game that will eventually end up lasting him a longer amount of time than KZ2.

it wasn't hearsay...it was humor.

i will agree that halo's mp is more robust than kz.  that is true.  however, some people (raises hand) buy shooters for the campaign too, and in that dept sales mean jack shit.  i'm on my second time through kz on elite, and i am bloody loving every minute of it again.

like i said before, if he wants more of the same in a pc shooter, then halo is the clear choice.

as good as kz's mp is, i think it still has some way to go before it approaches the masterpiece that is cod4.  only 5 game types and no party feature are pretty big blemishes.

and speaking of opinion, that's exactly what you are doing when you say halo will last him longer.  i'm sure he will be able to play halo next year as well as kz.  it won't be on the same xbox, but you didn't say anything about that lasting long.
