Forums - Sony - Sony's early announcement give Microsoft too much time to respond. ex. Home

Yes, but they needed to announce stuff at the beginning because they had no ready products to launch :| They needed to generate hype with yet unreleased products to have something to push the hardware out, and when you buy a 500$ product you want to be assured that the future isnt bleak for it ;)

Sony hyped up begeeza out of Home in 2007 and then in 2008, Microsoft effectively responded and unveiled NXE and Avatars and launched it before Home. Had sony kept it quiet, they could have blind sided Microsoft and been the leaders of online. Sony's long hype of Killzone 2 also allowed Microsoft to coincide the Killzone 2 launch with Halo Wars and Halo 3 mythic map pack. We could say the same about FF XIII, Tekken 6, and so many others. Every announcement that Sony makes, Microsoft is taking notes on how to respond

Sony will have a good E3, with suprise announcements, as will nintendo and microsoft.

But microsoft doesn't "take notes on how to respond", all they do is write up a huge cheque to try to get past Sony. It's the truth.

If thats what helps you sleep it night, go on believing it. Microsoft isn't the type of company whom you can say something too close to. As soon as they know your plans, they'll destroy them.

As soon as they know your plans, they'll destroy them..by writing a cheque.

If Sony did it with Nintendo and Sega, then so can Microsoft. Stop having double standards. It's amazing how you fanboys overlook the wealth times Sony moneyhatted since it joined the gaming industry. It's because of Microsoft why they can barely afford to moneyhat.

No matter how many times we prove this point we get ignored...I'm done....Ps3 fanboys can call MS "MoneyHatters" all they want...I'm just going to laugh about it now...

This exemplifies the Sony fanboy, or indeed any fanboy. But Sony's lot seem to be more vocal lately.

I agree with the OP. It bugs me when any company announces a game and then only releases it years later. Nintendo were guilty of this with Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. And Brawl. Etc etc

See where I'm going? All the manufacturers do it.

whatever

He has a point... Home really isn't that impressive and would have been better done if SOE had been at the helm... they are the MMO branch of Sony after all.  I think that Sony made a mistake not making it part of their interface and I think next gen that's exactly what Microsoft is likely going to do.

true but then they put the pressure on Microsoft and Nintendo to come up with answers to theri products

I agree, Sony announces stuff way too early.

Sony has bigger first and second party than Nintendo and MS combined, they have to announce some stuff earlier. Do you people really think they showed all of their "card" pre E3? I know of some games that have not yet been shown to public and will be at E3 100%. Boy will you be surprised....

Hmm you sound like someone that, this particular event is needed. Sony has announced a lot, unfortunately you're hoping for rather a lot.

I love how people say that what Sony and Ms did are the same thing. It is not, the people who are waiting for Ghostbusters have to wait for instead of 1 and half months ~, compared to November my local EB is telling me, which is crap. To do that is not to piss off a company, as some people have said, it is not a big enough game, but it is to piss off customers. I do not understand them doing this, i have in fact read an interview (granted it was a 360 magazine interview) but none the less. They said that they were making the game for the 360 in mind, because of the controller was going to be easier to work with. Also the 360 is easier to work with.

Sony better bloody hope that the game turned to Sony's point of view, although im going to have to wait that extra time, im going to be getting this for my 360 instead of my ps3, for the point of what was earlier said. Just because Sony decided to pinch this one, does not mean they are getting my cashola, WAY too many games are coming out around then anyway.

Back to topic though, Microsofts intense security about there exclusives etc seem to be a lot better then Sony's. Even Sony's projects they haven't 'released' yet the rumours flood the internet, the best 360 games of the future we can come up with is 'Lionhead project and rare project'. That particular info says nothing.

Same can be said about Perfect Dark for XBLA. Rare basically spelt it out, but it wasn't going to be confirmed until Rare actually released, all i could see is "i hope this comes to XBLA". It is funny.

I have other comments but not related to this topic. K BYE

Mm..Microsoft is fast, unlike Sony..

Yeah MS is fast.  The 360 was put out fast and look what happen.  Millions of 360's got the RROD.  It's best to take things slower to me.
