I have a feeling he's comparing WW numbers to Others numbers...I don't think the PS3 could have sold 164k in Others alone last year outside of MGS4's launch week and the holiday season.

Why is everything down YoY? I mean PS3 sold less than 30% of what it did last year. every other console is down like 50%. Strange.

GTA IV + MK Wii launch week this time last year.

No it is just the Others numbers for the week ending May 3rd 2008. What's not mentioned; however, is that included in this week last year was the launch of GTAIV, which helps to account for some of the large numbers for PS3/360.

Oh, that explains it. I was wondering why the home consoles were so high for that week.

And lol, at this time last year, the PS2 sold more than the PSP in Others...

The PS3 is taking a beating YoY.

You can see the jump for the HD consoles from the GTAIV launch... the week before they were 75-90k

Also looks like Wii supply issues being resolved up to that week too, as it was also at a peak.

If you try make a general line thorugh last years numbers... Wii was doing about 150-160k normally, so it is generlly down 40-50k (about 30%)

PS3 looks to be around 70-75k through the year, so it's down 20-30k

360 did around 65-70k early in the year, but flatlined around 60k for the later part... so it is either flat, or down about 5-10k.

Hmm hardware sales must really be down if you consider the fact that the PS2 was still selling so well back then. Take that into consideration and things don't look so rosy after all.

If by the end of this generation you mean the start of the next generation, then the PS3 is definitely going to finish dead last.

If you mean in terms of total shipments, then there is still a tiny chance PS3 might grab second.  But it will be far to late to have any influence on the number of/quality of titles each platform receives.
