Valve has had the next generation of Counter-Strike in planning for a while. I expect to see something on it with HL2:Ep3 aka the best FPS released up till the release of Half-Life 3. |
Interesting.

I know. Which is why I find it near impossible for them to have merit to their claim. |
No matter what Half-Life 2: Episode 3 versus anything EA puts out is a joke anyways so their claim can be voided right there. HL2:Ep3 will use Source Engine upgrades from Left4Dead and other Source titles as well as other major improvements. It will be by far the best game in the HL franchise to be released since HL and HL2 due to it concluding the chapter of the HL2 story.

Not quite. Episode 1 and 2 paled in comparison to Half-Life 2 for multiple reasons, the largest obviously being size and originality. half-Life 2 was an FPS revolution, in story-telling, gameplay, and in technical achievment(most notably, the gravity gun.) The new epsiodes were expansion packs that sinply extended Half-Life 2 and added minor tweaks, didn't last as long, and didn't introduce much anything new in terms of gameplay and engine. Because HL2 was so damn spectacular to begin with, the expansions were awesome too, but not HL2's level of awesomeness.
I HIGHLY(not enough emphasis on that) doubt that Episode 3 will be as good as Half-Life 2 was/is. Still be better then most FPS games, but not the best in the HL franchise.
Though with HL2:E3 as a possible competitor, I still don't know what EA could possibly be planning to top that...

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

since HL and HL2... since meaninmg after their release..... ie easily better then the previous HL2 eps.
Also Ep1 was short, Ep2 was longer, EP3 will be longer then Ep2 which by going by what Valve has hinted is expected to be twice as long as EP2.
