I also still love the original FF games (then again i am 23 so i would still fit into their demographic i suppose) but the quality of the FF series took a major nosedive with XII (the hunt missions were great fun though) and XII remains the only FF i have ever bought that i am yet to complete...
I really hope this changes with XIII but it seems like they are going along the same track as XII and this saddens me

I think you read that wrong. The word was twenty-something. That means someone in their 20s. So he said teens to 20-somethings.

If they keep doing turnbased ones like FF1-10 I would never "grow" out of them
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing

Is it just me or XII would've been 10 times more enjoyable if there was no Vaan and no Penelo? Something to think about...

I hope that was unintentional.

Couldn' t have said it better myself Badgenome.

Luckily, I'm pleasantly surprised that Square can still make some games outside the Final Fantasy franchise which don't suck. I do wish they could manage to do some work outside the RPG sphere altogether, like in their glory days on the PS1, but games like TWEWY and Valkyrie Profile will have to suffice.
Crystal Bearers looks like it could be an intriguingly fresh action game, too.

Hmmm, maybe that's why so many fans didn't like XII. Square Enix admits that the core of their fanbase is people who are in their teens to early twenties (at least mentally), while XII, I have to say, seemed much more mature and serious in tone in many aspects, from the characterizations to the story to the worldbuilding. Guess it was too much of an adjustment for all the younger/younger-mentality fans.

So I grew out of Final Fantasy VIII but not IX and then grew out of X but not Crisis Core FFVII, and all of the older Final Fantasy games still appeal and FFIV is still one of my favorite RPGs ever but I grew out of them all? What a shame :\
