Forums - Gaming - TGS Square Enix rumours?

RPGs can be designed for multiple disks, but that's my point, if it's on a blu ray then it ISN'T designed for multiple disks. I would imagine that would be some pretty hefty reworking to do that.

well, it really isnt hard to put on multiple discs, rpgs are usually made so that you dont have to put in a disc till a certain part of the story instead of going into one town you have to put a disc in.

Now when 360 gets to mulitiple discs for games with you just going around the city (GTA) and you have to switch at a certain point, then we have a problem

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Well, that could happen to FFXIII if they ported it like that....you might want to go back to the first town or whatever, but you're on the third disk, and that town is only programmed for the first.

It depends on the nature of the game, though. Most PS1 RPGs that were multi-disc were that way because of FMV and the likes, and most of the data was duplicated, like towns, graphics, music, etc. Basically all the important stuff was on all the discs so you could go back and forth to the first town and whatnot (in non-linear RPGs).

Does anybody know when the Sony keynote is supposed to start? Isn't it tomorrow night here in the states (Thursday in Japan)?

.....Everyone is going to have to accept that the PS3 is the most powerful system of this gen and that some games are only possible on it. FFXIII and KH will require 50GB disks with great compression to fit all the data they need. It would not even surprise me if they had to use 2 BR disks, and if the game came out on the 360 they would be useing at least 6 DVDs, because if they were using 1 50GB BR with good PS3 compression, then the 360 would have to use more disks as it can not decompress as fast.

Its true that Sony holds the storage advantage by far. But multidisk games are nothing new, its not like people cant live with it, weve all been doing it for years using cd's and now dvd's.

Blue Dragon is a 3 dvd game, and if it were on one BD it *would* be nice...but it doesnt detract from enjoyment of the game.

If a multiplat game came out and on PS3 it was one BD and for 360 it was 6 DVD9's, well of course if I owned both systems I would get the PS3 version everything else being equal. But for people who own just a 360 I dont think the multiple discs would effect a damn thing.  ("oh my god Im gonna have to swap discs, what a deal breaker!")

People tend to think multiple discs is some sort of terrible thing now that we have the option of higher capacity media.

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

Well, multiple disks I don't think is bad, I just think taking a game that was designed for one disk and trying to split it up to fit on multiple disks might end up with some problems. Also I think it would cost MS quite a bit more to make 3 or 4 dvds than for Sony to make one blue ray...

I'm not believing anthing until TGS, that goes for CoM: 2, KH0, and KH3.
