Pricecuts hardly lead to increased sales, they're meant to keep sales at a steady level. A slim version will not have as big an effect on consoles as it has on handhelds. I don't see how 30k regularly is possible. Remember that sequels to most of the PS2 era best sellers are already released on PS3: DMC, Minna no Golf, Winning Eleven, MGS, Yakuza.

And development has definitely shifted to Wii, with Samurai Warriors 3, Tales of Graces, Monster Hunter 3, Dragon Quest X, Crystal Bearers and a lot of small stuff like Arc Rise Fantasia, Muramasa, Valhalla Knights. If PS3 had all these games it would have a much better outlook than now with GT5 and FFXIII as the big ones, but aside from that not too much. I don't see End of Eternity move consoles for more than a week. Kingdom Hearts is the last big title that needs a home and will have a major impact.

Yes, relative to itself PS3 is doing fantastic. But compared to PS2 both Wii and PS3 are doing very bad.

Then why is the PS3 getting more or the less the same number of announcements?

Huh...to me PS3 is getting more niche announcements while the Wii got more major ones (along with some smaller ones too). The latest big PS3 game is...End of Eternity which is also on 360?

Well, the PS3 got another Yakuza announced which is just as big as Tales of Graces and Samurai Warriors 3. Things like Trinity Universe and Lost Rebellion should sell similarily to Fragile, Muramasa, and Arc Rise Fantasia.

so HD consoles will sell the same as the wii this year in japan? if true then expect more hd jrpgs....

Well...most of big stuff has for sure. The PS3 has gotten only two more bigger games (EoE and Yakuza) but a bunch of smaller ones. Wii has bigger stuff but less smaller stuff. But I'm just talking about more recent announcements because Wii has a bunch of smaller announcements in the past too.

I'd say it's equal quantity wise. Impact wise, Wii has more going for it since most of the big games for PS3 are already out.

Which is what I was saying.

But, if Final Fantasy 13 releases this year, then it really doesn't matter what Tales or SW3 do. It'll have more impact than anything not DQIX or DQX.

Of course it has. Unless you're from a parallel universe. Monster Hunter 3, Samurai Warriors 3, Dragon Quest X, Tales of Graces, etc. The Wii had none of these games when it launched and half of the developers behind them had pretty much turned their back on the Wii.

What people are falsely arguing under the guise of switching development is that the Wii doesnt have a monopoly on 3rd parties. Fact of the matter is that it never will, but a couple of NIS games and Yakuza aren't changing the fact that a lot of weight has switched in the Wii's favor.
