I was wondering how this worked, exactly. I've only seen it happen rarely (most recently with puffy), and would like to see this clarified, specifically in how exactly a request turns into a ban, and how exactly its a different reason than any of the other multitudes of reasons i've seen before?

(Mercy please if this is a subject that is taboo, a cursory re-examination of forum rules yielded no warnings against asking questions like this)

A couple people do it each semester during finals. Last semester during finals I just took 10 days off without requesting a ban. It was really hard. I got the itch really bad, and I even read some news here once or twice.

Yeah, someone just asks us to ban them for whatever amount of time. Those bans aren't really taken into account when moderating them so there's no hurt in doing it other than losing VG$.

Oh, so its self-requested. I see. I thought it was something where users requested that other users got banned (like: i request that smeags gets banned)

Thats what was confusing me.

once you pay your monthly protection fee to me (vg$500) I will gladly ban user for VG$1000

I know this might sound stupid and maybe insulting but you think thoes like The Ghost of RubangB said the *itch* might be too great so they'll get some kind of withdrawl sickness?

Its like locking a drug addict in a room where they cant get drugs xD

How much to ban yourself?

I got a question, even though they havn't done anything wrong, why are the ban fines so hefty?
