These Speculations are getting retarded....I doubt MS is going to kill the 360 as it reaches the height of it's success..

Yeah, I didn't think Microsoft was going to kill off the original xbox at the height of its success in 2005 either.  And, did anyone tell you its not polite to start throwing around insults?

I think MS cuaght Wiff of the PS3 and made their move...I read an article with one of the guys at IBM that worked of Teh Cell...Acording to him when Microsoft found out about Teh Cell MS made thier move....And Even more shocking....He said the Xbox 360 recieved almost the same thing as the PS3 only difference was that MS told them what they wanted instead of just cloning the Sony Cell...I know I was schoked too..But don't call me a liar call out GameInformer

My point is this should explain why I feel the Xbox and the Xbox360 are being treated differently at MS...but just like all those articles about the NextBox i'm just speculating....though I'm not being retarded about it

Most console makers traditionally try to launch their consoles with a killer app, to encourage early adapters to buy the system.  According to some sources, the Halo series is loosing a bit of steam these days.   Do you see another series on the 360 that would be able to attract early adapters to the next MS console much as Halo 3 coming to the 360 was a big impetus for early adapters to pay thousands of dollars for the 360 during the Christmas holidays '05?  If there is one, what series is it and when should the next game in that series be scheduled for release if one looks at when the other games in the series were released?

Commenting on what would be a Killer App for the NextBox would make seem stupid since I'm trying to say that the 360 has alot of Life in left...

I don't know.  I haven't heard of one newly announced title from Microsoft that seems to have the same selling potential as Gears of War or Halo.

Besides Halo 3 ODST I have not heard anything...Alan Wake Is the only Hyped game from MIcrosoft Game Studios...That's why this E3 is such a nail bitter...

It's a waste of time to even consider the possibility that the next Xbox is only a year away. Until the 360's sales are in decline, a significant portion of the $5-6 billion lost on the Xbox so far is recovered, and the recession is at a definite end there is absolutely no sense in MS releasing a new console. On top of that, there is little incentive to move considering the fact that neither Nintendo nor Sony want to make any moves themselves. 2011, I'd believe, but 2010 is just a bit too hard to swallow.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

i dont want to see any new systems released for atleast 2 years. preferably 3-4.

"I don't have time to play video games anymore, but if I did, I would definitely choose the PlayStation 3 instead of the 360" - President Barack Obama

I think people assume that a console manufacturer has to kill off their previous console when they release a new one, and I think we may have hit a point in time where console manufacturers try to have a longer transition period where both consoles co-exist.

I could be wrong but I expect Microsoft may try to produce a new console where they can release a game for the XBox 360 with "Low Detail" settings and it would have a resoultion of 720p @30fps, and it could be (easily) released for their next system at "High Detail" settings and would have a resolution of 1080p @60fps while playing on the same XBox live servers as XBox 360 players.

The reason for this is that third party publishers are going to be very reluctant to finance games at the budget required for HD games today on a system without an established userbase.

Now, I don't think that "Enhanced" XBox 360 games would be the peak of the system's abilities, but I wouldn't expect a lot of focus (from most developers) on pushing the system until it had been on the market for 18 to 24 months and had a userbase in excess of 20 Million users.

Early 2011 is my bet.

It's a simple innevitability.  When the consumer sees two very similar products on the shelf and one is strictly superior to the other in everything but cost they are going want the better item.  Some will recognize that their wallets can't handle it and go for the cheaper option, but even they will wish things worked otherwise.  So if a new Xbox hit shelves, the 360's sales would drop like a rock so long as the new Xbox wasn't priced at some ridiculous number like $600.  They could still support 360 gamers with scalable games, of course, but they will be sacrificing a significantly profitable product to put another loss leader on the shelves and that's highly illogical for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

doing this would be the only way we see one before 2012, but i still highly doubt one will be out next year even enhanced at most look for body/case redesigns all cpu/gpu on one chip or ram/cpu on chip. the point you put out devs have to support it, and i dont see that happening until 2012

How can you possibly misspell QWERTY? It's spelled correctly on the damn keyboard.

It must be nice to work for some ivory tower website and be completely oblivious to the current economic climate. There won't be a new Xbox console announced this year period.
