The same people that argued so many times that sales didn't matter... yet they go crazi b/c ps3 sold 40K more consoles than the wii in japan :O

And yet every single week we see the "will ps3 beat the wii?" and then "ps3 beats the wii for the 4th (5th, 6th, 7th......) time in japan"

I mean how pathetic is the ps3 actually doing... to have something like this every single week?

In the end, if you want good sales, you need to provide the goods.

In 2006, Sony thought brand name would be all that is needed to dominate.

Now it seems, 2009, Nintendo got into the same trap. "Everyone wants a Wii no matter what we come out with." They were resting too much. Nintendo may need to wake up again.

I'll say it here. From what I've seen, the PSP caught Nintendo off guard with the Wii. In Japan, portable consoles are in strong competition directly with home consoles. It's hard to believe as a Westerner, but you will see it if you go there.

PS3 at 40k yen proved, that it is a competitive rival to 25k yen costing Wii in Japan. =)

PS3 was slowed down in Japan, because M$ was buying any possible japanese game, they could get. But this thing is over, and since 2009 there will be more and more japanese oriented games on PS3.

For now, Wii will have:
MH3, Wii Sport resort+Wii motion VS FFXIII, GT5, Pricecut.
Just Wii is getting those games sooner, than PS3, BUT PS3 titles are Bigger.

Overall, the situation for PS3 will be like with PSP in Japan, but only BETTER.

The PS3 has done more than enough, really good for them they're releasing major games in Japan to catch up, and the Wii has nothing.

Well to me its not all the Wii's fault as it is 3rd parties not offering much on the Wii, it's like they gave up... Sure the Wii had maramusa and fragile but come on, nothing worth mentioning yet.

But Nintendo is to blame too, they offered much much more for the DS than they have for Wii, hopefully this will change soon. But u get what u deserve, so Congrats PS3

PS3 doing better and Wii doing worse will only force Nintendo take some kind of action. A more competitive climate in Japan is better for all of us. It's just a shame home console sales in Japan have been so low lately.

But for all the hype and hoolah of PS3 outselling Wii... at this rate won't it take something close to 20 years for PS3 to catch up? It's insane celebrating these very minor victories, just as it's insane claiming the console battle is over in Japan. We still have a long way to go, both machines still have price cuts and big games to come.

Hopefully this is going to force Sony and Nintendo to fight harder and harder for console sales in Japan, and we'll see the benefits of that.

If 360 were to release Halo4 + the price its at right now id expect it to out sale the wii in NA for quite some time.  While price cut and GT5 release and PS3 would out sale the wii in Europe.

Will be interesting what MH does for the wii and how Japan will look post FF13.
