Sony should have just said that everyone's Wiis are covered in dust.

and Nintedo will answer, but the wii is white so no dust going to show on it.

Does not cover up the fact that most real gamers rarly use the console.

I uh... really don't think that's true, shooter on consoles seem to be the trend for western people these days and Wii isn't really flooded by them and that's about it, if you are a real gamer, you'd probably play any good game on any system, and you'd pretty much play all 3 consoles quiet often on top of PC gaming, of course you'd have to split your time carefully but I really don't see how "Does not cover up the fact that most real gamers rarely use the console" would be true.

What's even funnier is that this whole statement was prefaced with the words:

"According to our internal research...."

You know Nielson also collects this exact data. Leaving Nielson out is the same thing as saying:
"although nielsen says one thing, we have these numbers you should look at"

Judging by the first words, it is apparent that this statement is spinful. Not that Sony's was any better.
Although Wii is played the least, individually, it doesn't mean it's in the closet. In fact, the sales numbers speak for themselves.

which is why I think PR is hardly worth anything these days no matter where they are from, always just for the stock holders.

I facepalm anytime I see any PR statement. It's one of those thing in marketing I don't think I will ever understand. Is it because most people will believe you? Is it to get your name out there? Is it a defense mechanism?

EDIT: oh, lol. Is it for stockholders only? Hmmmm this might explain why Nintendo issued a statement so quickly and directly. Nintendo stock has been dropping amid all these allegations of poor demographic and dipping sales. Are these investors led by anything anyone says? LOL. are they the real sheep in this whole scenario?

its interesting that nintendo is finaly PRing SONY and M$ back now. Could it be that the ridiculously low sales (for the wii :) ) are making them rethink their PR strategy?

We pray to thee, O Lord of Gaming, to save us from the Wii plague. Never again shalt we worship a false idol as the touch-screen, and thus bring down thine divine Wrath. Deliver us from the MILFs of the world, so that we may be spared the sight of Our Hobby becoming widely embraced. Bless us with thine testerone games and pubescent themes. Though we are unworthy to be in thine presence, please...

Save Us PS4!

Although this was funny, I don't remember anyone complaining about the PS2 being widely played.

According to our internal research, 87% of Wii consoles are connected to the largest TV screen in the household, which is set in the centre of the living room. …our consoles are not only out of the closet, they are also in the middle of the house. This shows what kind of our customers are playing Wii, as of January this year. As you can see, Wii is played by people in a wide range of ages, and male-female ratio is nearly equal. As I have mentioned, Wii has spread with nearly equal male-to-female ratio and is played by people of broad range of ages. Nearly 90% of the consoles are connected to the largest TV screen of the household in the living room

Is that the actual full comment? Because why does he have to repeat the entire comment twice, but backwards?

You know Iwata is Japanese right? This has probably been run through babelfish or something :P

Anyway, good to hear that Iwata isn't letting Sony get away with their shenanigans

This data is Japan only.  Nielson does not collect data in Japan.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

That's fantastic!

Anyway of course Wii is more likely going to be on the biggest TV in the house, females use it and they'd want it easily accessable to them. The fact that Wii is used by more people in the house actually means that the userbase is MORE than what the numbers suggest.

I.E. Wii has 48.7% market share. However more people use the Wii than the other two systems per house. Therefore it really has even more marketshare than meets the eye.

Also it helps smaller developers because they can release a niche game that will be able to find a market in the diverse userbase of the Wii.
