The more you know
Hype for video games has been existence before most of you were born.
Example:

Not really. If you say the graphics aren't great but think the gameplay will be fun you are a hypocrite.

On a serious note I was going to type out what MM just said. If people want to be excited about a game just STFU and let them. No one here needs permission to be excited for something they want to purchase and play. 

inFamous and MAG aren't over-hyped in the least bit.

The Conduit has reasonable excitement around it, but people call it over-hyped because they hate the system it is on, the attempt at a core Wii 3rd party game, and the visual presentation as opposed to HD.

I want that :(. i hope i lived  in the US

"Over-hyping" happens when a console's offerings is lacking in a specific gaming genre.

It happened with several RPG games on the N64.
The Conduit might end up as another good example of this phenomenon. Let's hope we're all wrong.

Over-hyping also happens when a specific game is supposed to save a console's 'reputation' or prove it's potential (read Lair).

 Based on this definition.

Ps3 is considered by many as "Shooterstation 3", if that's the case why was Killzone 2 considered "over hyped?"

My post is just a couple of factors/examples of hype to over-hype.
