Forums - Nintendo - Why does Ganon want to take over Hyrule?

Ganondorf was really fleshed out in Wind Waker, here's some of his lines when you persue him in his tower:

Ganondorf: Do you sleep still? Wait! Do not be so hasty, boy... I can see this girl's dreams... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans as far as the eye can see. They are vast seas... None can swim across them... They yield no fish to catch... What did the King of Hyrule say?... That the gods sealed Hyrule away? And they left behind people who would one day awaken Hyrule? How ridiculous... So many pathetic creatures, scattered across a handful of islands, drifting on this sea like fallen leaves on a forgotten pool... What they can possibly hope to achieve? Don't you see? All of you... Your gods destroyed you!

I have been waiting for you, boy. For one like you... Yes... For the hero. Do not betray my expectations.

Ganondorf: My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose. It can only be called fate... That here. I would again gather the three with the crests... That I should lay my hand on that which grants the wishes of the beholder... That when power, wisdom, and courage come together, the gods would have no choice but to come down... The power of the gods... The Triforce! He who touches it will have whatever he desires granted! Already, the crest of wisdom is mine...

There is actually an answer to this question. All the characters in the series are slaves to their fate. They were predestined to do as they did. Logically by the gods that created the triforce in the first place. Presuming they are omnipotent they must have foreseen the consequences, and they had a prominent position in their plan. Yes a god made Ganon do it, or more specifically saw to it that Ganon would be born the evil twisted very powerful bastard that he was.

That is the logic you must follow. However the truest answer is this. The staff at Nintendo is either too incompetent, too lazy, or too self serving to actually fashion a story that is the gaming equivalent of the song that never ends. Allowing them to shovel out two dozen versions of the same game.

By the way chalk up one vote to Ganon being impotent, and the whole power hungry nature of his existence is in compensation. Think about it for a moment over hundreds or thousands of years have you ever seen a piece of tail in his throne room. I think not we can at least assume after they banish Ganon both Link and Zelda are getting some.

I don't know if this is a jab at the series or a long-witted answer.. w/e.

Poor Gannon =-(

At least he gets to beat up Kirby and Yoshii sometimes- That's got to make any evil person happy. (Even though Kirby is more evil than Gannon & Yoshi who eats you and then ... gross).

Ganon isn't always involved with the triforce of power, so saying that the triforce of power corrupts him and makes him want to rule the world is a bit ....err...no, it's totally wrong.

He wanted to take over the world in OoT before he got the triforce, and in countless other games he isn't even involved with the triforce, yet he wants the world.

He just has immense power and wants to use it to control everything. That's it!
