Yeah, just go play your expansion pack, I'll stick to GOW III, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted.

I feel so left out. D:

I love how expansion packs and DLC are now cast in a derogatory light since 360 gets more content in most games. Sony fanboys will site "quality" all the live-long day, but heaven forbid MS release Halo 3:ODST or buy extra episodes of GTA4. Then all of a sudden awesome additional content becomes a joke.

And as it's been said 1000 times before, we'll see how smug people are about their game lineups after E3.

Derogatory ? Not at all, the only derogatory thing is that the OP thinks that an expansion pack is going to beat THE WHOLE library of excellent ps3 games coming. That's just plain silly.

edit:

And even if Halo ODST were to outsell all of those games, would you rather have a good game in a three hours expansion pack or five good games, full lenght ?

1. who cares if an expansion pack sells more
2. its no mystery if it sells better considering the halo following. its expected to sell more than a single rival release. i would expect gears3 to do the same.
3 very rarely have ps2 games even sold as well as halo or gears on the 360 and thats with over 100mil consoles sold.
4. as a gamer, i rather have 4 quality titles this xmas than 1 xpansion pack.

the point is, as gamers, as long as a game profits and we keep getting quality games, why should we argue? after all, everyone is getting what they want. you should only cry about it if you made an investment or own shares.

its the same story:

sony bots= list of exclusives and quality
xbots= sales figures.

if you really want to talk sales figures, then dont compete against 3rd place, compete against 1st. so, what will ms counter wii sports resort, wii fit with? after all, you aim for no1 not 3!

A worldwide GT5 release would counter ODST.

Tbh tho, I expect MW2 to completely overshadow ODST in the same way that COD4 ruined Halo 3's 2007 honeymoon.

ODST sales vs. MW2 PS3 sales will be interesting.

As someone who likes Halo and plays it a bit, games on PS3 I'm looking forward to more:

New PixelJunk game (more than any game)
Uncharted 2
God of War 3 (this year?)
Gran Turismo 5 (this year?)
Infamous
Fat Princess

Prolly a few more. And this isn't to say all those games will be better, I think only 1 has even a chance of outselling Halo: ODST (Gran Turismo 5, obviously). Maybe the reason I'm looking forward to those a little more is because I'm getting to a point where I'm a little played out on FPS games..they just don't stop coming out and no one ever wants to stop playing them.

I hope ODST is actually worth it..but I'm very, very skeptical of this game. But we shall see=P

Granted, the list of upcoming games mentions far trumps ODST on its own (and combined they'll sell more as well), however we don't know that it's all that's planned. Last year, 1 major release was held unannounced until relatively short before release... Gears 2. And one Gears 2 sized announcement, (or a couple smaller ones) combined with ODST put the 360 in range of the PS3 heavy hitters. My only point is, withhold judgement another month or so.

what if sony releases a 1st party beat em up with:

kratos
mgs characters
cole
nd
sackboy
nathan fron resistance
jak & daxter
ratchet and clank
kri
dude from yakuza
heavenly sword characters

i think you get the idea. that may counter odst :p

Hey guys,

we know PS3-fans like to hype their games, especially on this site. We saw this with Resistance2 and LBP last year and with Killzone and inFamous this year. But the sales were not as huge as some might have hoped. Some people said Resistance2 had a chance to outsell Gears of War2 or LBP would be the entrance for casual gamers to get a PS3.

Last Xmas the Xbox360 crushed the PS3 especially on the software-side. Here is a comparison of the last Xmas lineup. First the most successful multiplat games

  1. Call of Duty World at War - Xbox360: 5.33 million ; PS3: 3.19 million
  2. Fallout 3 - Xbox360: 2.29 million ; PS3: 1.38 million
  3. Far Cry 2 - Xbox360: 1.35 million ; PS3: 950k
  4. Dead Space - Xbox360: 770k ; PS3 580k

The top selling exclusives:

  1. Gears of War 2 - Xbox360: 4.8 million
  2. Fable 2 - Xbox360: 2.70 million
  3. LBP - PS3: 2.16
  4. Left 4 Dead - Xbox360:  2.09 million
  5. Resistance 2 - PS3: 1.57 million

So Xbox360 won last holiday season.

This season, it is all about the release of GT5. That is the only exclusive game that could outsell Halo ODST. If GT5 gets a 2010 release, this years holiday season will be like the past. Halo ODST will do even crazier numbers than Gears of War 2 did. God of War will do good numbers but nowhere near Halo ODST. The 2009 release of God of War 3 is still doubtful btw. Forza Motorsports 3 is very likely to be released this holiday season. Games like Heavy Rain, Resistance, Uncharted 2 just do not have the impact like a Halo this year or a Gears of War last year.

Multiplat games like Modern Warfare2, Bioshock2, Assassins Creed2 will sell better on the Xbox360, too. So I expect the Xbox360-Software to outsell the PS3-Software by a decent margin. Just like last year.

Do you agree? Which PS3-game could match Halo ODST saleswise?

WOW. I didn't know the PS3 X-mas lineup had done SO WELL. Thanks for the data. And look at all those third parties putting up big numbers for a system outsold 2:1 that holiday period. So nice to see that.

OT: Let's see how that works for you next christmas. Hopefully MS can cut the price again and go bankrupt when their sales can't do better than that.
