Forums - Nintendo - Do you think Nintendo´s next system could finally be "the new SNES"?

Your list of games claiming the Wii's line-up is better than PS3 / 360's is awful.

Action/Adventure: Yes the Wii has some good games here, but don't ignore games like Uncharted, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, Banjo Kazoo(360 game), RE5, DMC4 and Assassin's Creed to name a few. The HD consoles have enough AA - AAA games to match what the Wii offers.

Platformer: Ratchet and Clank Future games, LittleBigPlanet, etc. Again the Wii has an amazing game (Super Mario Galaxy) but if you don't like SMG then Wii has virtually nothing to offer...

Racing: PS3 has GT, Motorstorm, Ridge Racer, Wipeout HD and more. 360 has Project Gotham series and Forza. Again Mario Kart is a great game but its only one game...

Fighting: Sure Brawl is amazing, again PS3/360 offer more games. Though ill give you this one.

Shooting: PS3 has resistance / Killzone / modern warfare, 360 has GeOW / Halo / etc. The wii suffers from a lack of good FPS ...

RPG: Definitely goes to 360, followed by PS3 with Wii in the distant background.

Overall -- the OP is right when he says the Wii is lacking a good library of games. The Wii's library focuses on a small number of excellent games (most of which are 1st party and often appeared on previous Nintendo consoles).

Uncharted and RE5 are more like shooters, Banjo Kazooie is more platformer, just saying. oh and, Mario Kart Wii and Excitebot are better racing games than what the other 2 consoles have to offer online or offline, it's sad but true, Wipeout is cool though. RPG is hard to say atm, I'll see what happens during 2010.

I think it'll take another generation on top of this one of clear Nintendo dominance for 3rd parties to come around.

You can still justify not developing on the wii (building a brand new engine, licking the wounds of building useless HD engines, advertising etc) this generation and potentially next generation as well (depending on how well MS and Sony do).

But after 2 generations of dominance (Wii and what evers next), I think we'll see the next super nintendo like console.

That's assuming Nintendo continue their success next generation

I must have had a fixed copy along with every other reviewer out there because I don't remember busted controls or a busted camera.

Seriously, I doubt a game with something as major as busted controls or a busted camera would average a 97 on Metacritic.

Surely, you have not played SMG with 1 hand using the reflection from a mirror.

Mario Kart Wii/Excitebots deliver some of the best online comic racing between all platforms.

Super Mario Galaxy is without a doubt, to the majority who have played most platformers, the best in a LONG LONG LONG time. Some even claim it to be the Game of the Forever (meaning nothing will beat its awesomeness).

And even though I have both a Wii and a PS3 i do not buy ONLY PS3 games. On the contrary my split is pretty even. The PS3 has some incredible games (and more on the way... U2 :D) but so does the Wii.

it will be the next SNES.

Super Wii

there won't be a new SNES.... 2D greatness is gone forever. gorgeous sprites too.

We're doomed to see 3D horrors and "realistic" graphics till the end of time...

The MGS and RE series have always suffered from bad controls/camera and look how well they scored.

So now I'm confused.  Super Mario Galaxy is a busted game because of its bad controls and bad camera, but Metal Gear Solid 4's busted camaera and controls make the PS3 have the superior action/adventure games?

I never said MGS4 made the PS3 have better games, my point was that bad controls and camera don't make a game score low.  And my opinion of the MGS series is not very high.  We can look at Killzone2 for example, its controls were god awful and i have no idea how GG could think people move like that in real life, but that game scored great overall based on the best sounding game and best looking game of all time.

I have to assume you don't disagree with saying MGS4 makes PS3 have the best action/adventure games since you didn't have anywhere near the same reaction as saying Super Mario Galaxy is busted for the same reasons.

It's called being consistent and you're just not that.  It's painfully obvious you're just making things up because the idea that something like Super Mario Galaxy could be better than something like Little Big Planet is just offensive to you.

What do you mean SMG is all the Wii has to offer, there are more platformers out on Wii, Galaxy is just the best one. Super Paper Mario much? De Blob? Wario Land? I suppose these just slipped under your radar.

Moaning that Mario Kart is just one game? I suppose you don't think highly Excite Truck and Bots. Then again, i doubt there are any Wii games you think highly of...

You seem to think the Wii only has one great game for every genre. Brawl isn't the only fighting game on the console, it's just the best one. Bleach: Versus Crusade? Tatsunoko vs Capcom? DBZ:BT3?

How does the Wii suffer from a lack of good FPS'? Metroid Prime 3 and the NPC! MP's are simply incredible. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is considered one of the best in the series. Much higher rated than RE5, in fact. MoH: H2? CoDWaWii? RE: UC? Quite a few more FPS' are on the way.

And lol @ your RPG section. Wii in the distant background? Not really. Rune Factory: Frontier? Chocobo's Dungeon? Tales of Symphonia 2? Little King's Story? Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time? A slew of RPG's coming this year...

Overall, you and the OP are both dead wrong. It's laughable how people like you pop out of the ground stating such bs as "the wii is lacking a good library of games". You're not even trying to look for great games on the Wii.

@ twesterm

You're never going to get through to Griffin. SMG will always be rubbish in his eyes... sure he's probably never played the game but hey, who needs to play games when you can lie and bash with bullcrap. Right Griff?

How technical is your game?

that's because he most likely doesn't own a Wii so he only knows the highly acclaimed ones, like how the owner of 1 console sometimes don't know anything about the exclusives or the good games beside the big ones on other platforms.

btw, might wanna change the word FPS in your msg to Shooter. +now that I think about it, the only genre where the Wii is really lacking are shooter games, which seems to be the big thing these days, and I don't even get it since they are better on PC.

OP: No way, not even close.
