Forums - Gaming - Music and games have the same problem.

It just depends on the tpye of games you play and the type of music you listen to.

There are both games and songs with amazing, epic, beautiful stories, but theyre in the minority.

Its just like with any media, the masses tend to like stupid meaningless crap..

 true,

just like there are (very few) games with thoughtful messages.

MGS4 instantly comes to mind. The game is very thematic driven and it is ultimatelly the vessel for carrying some of the most sober and though provoking messages in recent memory.

Reminds me of John Lennon's Imagine in more than one way.

"You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney"

Some games have very good stories, such as BioShock.

Some games, such as Killzone 2, need no story.

Many people complain that almost all games have a terrible plot or no plot at all and a lot of violence while in music nearly every song is about love and they usually have a terrible "plot".

The good thing is, I don't play games for 'plot'.  I play them for gameplay.  And as such, I am able to enjoy a lot more games.

On a similar note, if you listen to music for the lyrics, you will eventually find that a lot of it is laughable and only a small percentage of the songs will appeal to you.  Just as only a very small percentage of games will appeal to you if you focus on playing them for the plot.

This isn't to say games can't have good plot or songs can't have good lyrics.  But you shouldn't focus on them as the only thing.  Think of them as part of the song and not the focus.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

This. Games didn't need plots in the early eighties and they don't need them now.

By which you mean that you didn't need plots in the early eighties and you don't need them now. Thanks for sharing, pity about the undue generalization :)

I loved the story in Gran Turismo 3.
The one in GT2 left me feeling a little meh to be honest.

GT4's story though was pretty close to GT3s imho.
