Forums - Microsoft - This is When the Halo Marketing Has Gone Too Far...

Every morning I hear the Halo / WalMart ad on the radio at least two times within the hour I drive. They mention the special Halo checkout lanes and other stuff. I was actually kinda surprised when I first heard it, but then again, it's Halo and it never gets enough hype...

This reminds me of the Star Wars Episode 1 hoopla

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

This isn't normal?

I see it everywhere.

I'm so F**KING tired of Halo 3 advertisements on every single TV channel. They are even on the damn discovery channel! I have seen so many ads for the game, I'm actually starting to hate it before it's released. There is a point of taking advertisement too far.

Then again i dont watch the discovery channel O.O

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

i agree that all the hype has gotten to the point that its making me hate the game. 7-11 is taking preorders by me for it

Hasn't really affected me much...but I haven't really gone to many retails in the past week or so, and I haven't been watching much TV either.

I thought those museum ads were well done though...we all know the game is coming, and it will be a good game I'm sure, so I don't care.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

funny, i live in LA and i haven't seen a single halo commercial. not even at burger king.

in contrast, movie commercials are everywhere. i don't know if it's about targeted advertising or what, but if halo commercial really is that ubiquitous, i should definitely have seen it by now. to top it off, i haven't even seen it on the internet.

but c'mon everybody; microsoft needs halo to sell an inordinate amount of copies along with 360. it's still the only sure-fire franchise they own, and they are gonna take this once-in-three-years opportunity to advertise the hell out of it.

nintendo's advertising strategy is in start contrast. nintendo presumably is about maximizing profit, microsoft's is about maximizing revenue. sony's is probably somewhere in between.

huh, halo on the discovery channel. interesting strategy.

the Wii is an epidemic.

This is what Wal-Mart does. They did the same thing for Harry Potter books.
