Jak and Daxter games a failure? Really? Do you believe that?

There were awesome games. They sold loads. They made big profits. What more do people need?

They made SMALL profits. Don't forget how much marketing and advertising went into those games.

And when one of your BEST DEVELOPERS is just making small profits, it's a failure.

Do you have any proof of that at all? From what I remember at the time, the games were widely held to be enormously successful and profitable. I'll happily accept your claims if you have an proof of them.

Perhaps not "small" profits...but rather Smaller profits than they expected when creating the series.

Common sense my man. If they were such an enormous success, Jak 4 wouldve come out in 2007 (when Uncharted did), and you'd be seeing Jak 5 at E3 this year.

Your logic fails right here. Naughty Dog not continuing with J&D on the PS3 does not mean it was a failure. My proof? Crash Bandicoot. Naughty Dog dropped CB once they hit the PS2, and that was an awesome-selling franchise.

I loved the Crash games, and I loved the Jak games more. What's more, Uncharted has (for me) more play time than any other Naughty Dog game before it (I've completed it four times now, and I'm working through the fifth, though it's starting to drag a bit, now). I personally think that Naughty Dog should stick to a new franchise a generation.

I don't like Jak & Daxter at all, but saleswise, it wasn't a failure.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Uncharted sold worse then the first Jak & Daxter, so Uncharted also failure?

On another note platformers didn't do so hot on PS2 compared to PS1, they did really good but if you compare to N64, SNES, Gen, or PS1 it just doesn't compare.

Now answer the question if Jak & Daxter failed what does this say about Uncharted?

Jak and Daxter a failure because it didn't sell as much as some Crash games???
Jak and Daxter wasn't a profitable franchise even though each game sold 2Million easily???

I think you're crazy... Jak and Daxter is a very successful franchise for SONY. According to this site, the first 3 games for the Jak series sold better than the first 3 of the Ratchet series I might add... and The Jak series is undertracked here.

It's unfair to say right now considering there has only been one Uncharted game. Uncharted did NOT sell all that well either, and it was bundled too.

However, if Uncharted2 has an increase in sales, rather than a decrease (like Jak 2 and 3) than it's atleast headed in the right direction.

You do realise that Crash bandicoot is one of the best selling franchises in gaming history? I would've been surprised if any game they make ever outsold Crash seriously.
Also, I don't think alot of you guys know, but if you watch some of the bonus content on the Uncharted disc, you'll realise that ND had always wanted to make an adult style game like Uncharted, and thats why they made it for the PS3. It had nothing to do with Jak and Daxter. They wanted to do something different and something they always wanted to do.
Its not that Jak and Daxter was a failure, its just that Crash was a monster!

No it is not.

Mario, PokeMon, Need for Speed, GTA, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, etc etc etc.... just off the top of my head, those are all better selling franchises. I doubt Crash Bandicoot is even in the Top 10 best selling franchises.

That's not proof, though, because Universal owned the IP for Crash Bandicoot, and iirc Naughty Dog only had the license to make 3 games. Which is why the series turned to shit after the third one.

Jak and Daxter is a failure because Jak 3 sold half the copies the original did? By that logic Mario would be a failure since the SMB sold 40M copies and Galaxy has only sold 8M...

Jak and Daxter is NOT a failure, they were great games and Naughty Dog were happy with the sales. Why didn't they make Jak 4 instead of Uncharted? Because Naughty Dog didn't want to be stuck on the same franchise for the rest of their life, like Kojima is now. We might still get a Jak 4 after Uncharted 2, ND have said before that they're interested in what they could do with the Jak franchise on the Uncharted engine.

You realize that's highly unlikely since the genre isn't THAT huge, it helps bring a few more people in having it bundled and you could have a few more sales on the next game then the previous, but it's unlikely, if it's bundled again it'll probably sell about as much or maybe a little more due to word of mouth but I'm suspect if it could increase since like I stated before the genre has never been that huge, the peak was Tomb Raider back on PS1.
