In crazymans thread it looked like he had been cherry picking so I had a look for myself to make sure numbers for both threads are from vgchartz while his numbers are right they don't tell the full story so here goes. following stats are for Japan

crazymans thread was adout new games that sold over 100k in Japan this year.
To give full story this will show all games that sold over 100k in Japan.
2009 wii= 8 360= 2 ps3= 9 ds=18 psp= 7 ps2= 2
this puts a slightly differant look to sales.
what is more intresting is past numbers
2008 wii=22 360=3 ps3=16 ds=64 psp=20 ps2=18
2007 wii=21 360=0 ps3= 6 ds=88 psp=13 ps2=27
2006 wii= 5 360=1 ps3= 0 ds=55 psp=19 ps2=51
from above numbers it can be seen at a glance wii is in slump [as we all know in Japan]
360 has picked up [this we know also]
ps3 is doing better [we know this as well]
ds is in decline seems to be more than I thought
psp is stable [had to say that for certain]
ps2 has all but gone in Japan though still has a flicker of life.
To conclude bigest surprise is ps2 with install base seems to be to low ps3 doing best as far as improvment.
worth a look at the american stats.

whilemost software is sold in second half of calender year we can still see trends
ps3 and ps2 stand out ds360wii also for low first half sales of 250k and up
