I doubt Katamari Tribute would have more boost than NG2... actually I don't see any significant boost from those two titles at all... |
Ninja Gaiden Sigma didn't help too much but sales increased......

I'm going to say a lot of it has to do with Wii Sports Resort. If it brings stability back to the Wii then well PS3 doesn't have much of a chance considering it's big release isn't until the latest part of the year.
But if WSR just phases over then it'll be close and probably the edge will go to PS3. So it really just depends on that Wii Sports Resort. Of course Tales of Graces, Monster Hunter 3, Samurai Warriors 3, Punch Out, and whatever Ninty's holiday title in Japan is will help out but WSR is the competition to FFXIII.

If Galaxy, Mario Kart, Zelda, Wii Fit, Wii Music and SSBB didn't, then yes, that is what I believe. They need to do more to elevate sales and keep it there. My point is not that FFXIII and GT5 will most assuredly elevate sales and keep them there for the PS3, we don't know because there haven't been any games of that proportion released there yet this gen on the PS3 (FF is much bigger than MGS for instance) so we don't know what effect it will have. We have seen, however, that the Wii titles mentioned above failed to provide a lasting boost so the big hits (and you can't deny that they are big hits) on their own are apparently not enough. |
But they did, especially Wii Fit. You do realize that Wii Fit alone outsold the PS3 in Japan? Mario Kart has also done well at boosting wii sales, etc... Problem is those games have been out for over a year and it's not as noticible when wii was supply constrained.
I don't think Wii sports resort will make much of a boost. That said, I think MH3 and some of the other games will, such that if you look at the entire year, the Wii will win.
Wait... WTF is Wii Fit Plus? I thought that was just a rumor?
| saicho said: so after I posted PS3 needs to average ~55K units per week for the rest of the year to hit 2.5 millions this year, two more people expect PS3 to sell 3 millions? Does my post not make any sense or people just think it's very reasonable for PS3 to sell 69K+ per week for the rest of this year in Japan?
I just don't get it... |
Some of the Sony fans are a bit delusional. Most of them are pretty rational though. So just deal with those in the latter camp.

It is just a rumor. Nintendo hasn't confirmed anything.
Lets just put it into perspective. This first half of the year in Japan, the PS3 has gotten Resident Evil 5 + Street Fighter IV + Yakuza 3 + FF13 Demo/Hardware Bundle.
And Nintendo has released dick all for the Wii except for Another Code 2.
Yet the hardware sales for both platforms are basically even despite this.
Somehow Sony is going to keep pace once actual software like Wii Sports Resort and Monster Hunter 3 and Pikmin 3 hit?
Is there any real logical reason behind this thinking?

Well, I think they were hoping that the Gamecube remakes would hold them over until WSR.
Also, I'd give Mario Tennis a bit more credit as it sold 5x was Another Code sold.
Yeah, lol, relying on those GameCube remakes was smart. I'm *shocked* their hardware sales fell, I mean who could've possibly seen that coming.
Time to take off the gloves and get back to work in the 2nd half of the year, Nintendo.
That simple. They've had too much success in Japan the last 3-4 years and it was getting too easy for them, this is probably not a bad wake up call.

I agree this is just what Nintendo needed
