Forums - Sales - First day sales in Japan (4/23) - MHG Wii, Killzone 2, Disaster Report 3

The point I don't think that's a really sustainable way to build hardware momentum. It's the exact same strategy more or less that Nintendo tried on the GameCube.

Both Nintendo and Sony have screwed up the console market in Japan and their release schedules are terrible, though Nintendo's is looking half-way decent for the 2nd half of the year and the Wii has had some proven success in Japan earlier on.

If there isn't a major change, Japan will be basically a portable only market soon enough.

Yeah I remember you and me talking about a HSG6 in a news article once.

I wonder if they'll announce that anytime. But I'd think if they do it'd be at TGS and release in 2010.

That and we're due for another Dynasty Warriors.

Sony really does have a shot of doing very well this holiday.

Dynasty Warriors 3 will be on Wii.

They both have a decent line-up for the 2nd half of the year, though far from the DS/PSP standards.

Microsoft is perhaps the only one which lacks something really big (big for 360 standards in Japan),  like Last Remnant or Star Ocean.

I think this is a whole lot of bruhaha about nothing anyway.

By July the same ol' Wii - 25-30k, PS3 - 12-15k status quo will be back in effect.

People went nuts last year too when PS3 spiked to 70k+ when MGS4 came out.

Samurai Warriors 3, not DW3.

Oh yeah that's right.

So Samurai Warriors is the spin off of Dysnasty Warriors, which is the spin off of Romance... and each of those have numerous side games as well...

PS3 needs a real Dynasty Warrior game with trophies support and better combat system than the last one...
I'm so desesperate I rented Dynasty Warrior Gundam 2 and it's nothing like the real Dynasty Warrior games...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

LOL, I lost track of this series a long time ago. Aren't there Gundam themed spin offs also?

8 months? No not really. They're gonna have stuff this year, just the bulk is next year.

@Hero time

lol! Bayonetta isn't going to get close to 300k in Japan! ToV won't hit 300k either. End of Eternity won't either, it's a new IP.

So is White Knight Chronicles, and it's almost at 350k, and a Tri-Ace game with the right promotion should be able to match that.

Bayonetta can go either way but I have the feeling that it could appeal those hardcore gamers that are mostly on the PS3 who love action-adventures/ slashers.

As for Tales of Vesperia, not to many people did buy it on the Xbox 360 because they don't like the platform which means more potential buyers, and Tales of Symphonia for the PS2 did back then 400k compared even though it did came a year later.

Bayonetta will probably do a lot better in the West too..

A DW6 and a HSG6 wouldn't come out this year...next year they can though.

How did PS3 HW raise during HSG5 and DW5 though?

DW5 was total crap.

The combat system was overly simplified and it was mostly a PS2 game released with a PS3 sticker and price tag...
