Forums - Sony - Have you lowered your PS3 sales expectations for FFXIII launch week?

I must be either crazy or 360 fan to say so.

Anyone saying "up" really has no idea.

FFXIII is *incredibly* hard-core fan base. The same people tend to buy all the new FF titles, and tend to hang on anything FF related.

Sure the demo sold less than the game will - but anyone who bought a PS3 *for* the demo, would have bought a PS3 *for* the full game. Therefore, those hardware sales have been brought forward.

If you want to argue that the demo will result in more sales of the game, and therefore more hardware sold at launch - good luck. Its a hardcore title, and a demo will not change that. Its not like its a new franchise, that people need marketing to know about - everyone knows about it.

Yea like how every Halo 3 player bought Crackdown just to play the beta demo?

The sales were bigger when the actual game released.

It is going to be big, hardcores who are waiting for the full game will get it and casuals who grew up on FF back in the day will probably so too.

I think the point is, the demo moved more hardware than most people expected, so in turn, they're expectations for the full game have been raised.

If I understood y-koron's sales data correctly, the demo didn't move hardware as much as the special edition PS3 did. (40k sold it seems)

ugh hu. the thing its you been around some japanese forums you would see FF13 release date been going around alot decently, even japanese "celebrities" are thinking of buying one now.

even if FF have a hardcore fanbase like halo 3, the game will get huge sales, the game for 360 increase by alot, why wouldn't FF do so?

This is pretty much my thinking.

It only takes a quick look at the general demographic of the people saying otherwise (with one or two exceptions) to understand their motivations.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Did I read people predicting 2 million SW first week? Is that worldwide or just Japan. I am hoping worldwide or that would be some insane attach ratio...

OP: Though I understand where you are coming from, I have to admit that this weeks HW sales make me believe that the Japanese are hungry for some good old FF fun and will jump on the PS3 and FF as soon as it hits the shelves.

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

1.2 million

130k ps3 sold that week in japan

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

I think they will sell better on a weekly basis not a super boost on the week it will be released like most is expecting
