So, how long until it tops Nintendo in Japan at this rate? 2, maybe 3 years... not gonna happen.

NES colored Wii and SNES Classic Controler for Christmas

Super Role Bros for Christmas

FF Remakes announced; VII PS3 VIII 360 IX Wii

As you can see the Playstation would have been a more popular console if they focused on 3rd party exclusives. Now they make their own games and it typically falls dead last.

I'm pointing out its the 3rd party games that really move the PS3. Much like MGS4 did a great job at moving consoles.  Sony developed/published don't quite do the same.

I'm reminded of when the PSP started to sell better than the DS in Japan, for that short period of time.

Seems like we're hearing a lot of the same arguments from Sony fans now, that we did then.

You mean when Japanese developers started taking the PSP seriously because of that, and now its getting a constant stream of good games.  The DS is, but so is the PSP.  I'm not saying it has any bearing on what is ahead for PS3 and Wii or anything...

thanks for sharing this with us, but i have to disagree

 

Ps3 is selling great in Japan, if you think it's expensive

Ps3 is an expensive video-game system, but a cheap blu-ray player, and that's why many Japanese bought it this week along with the FFAC blu-ray movie, which was a bundle anyway

also, some months ago, Sony fans were saying "Wii is not competing with Ps3" because it's not HD or this and that

it's irony, because in this case Ps3 might be selling as a cheap blu-ray player rather than a video-game system, where the Wii is being sold exclusively as a video-game console

we don't really know if the Japanese really bought it as blu-ray player this week, but from the low software this week that's what i can say, maybe i'm wrong, we'll know when FF13 is released

Gran Turismo says otherwise, and will continue to say otherwise when it releases as it will move more hardware than MGS4 did

 

Quick reminder, PS3 is the worst selling Sony console ever.

I can't imagine people are dying to buy a $400 console for GT5. If a PS3 price drop coincides with it then you'll see Sony agrees.

Hmmm, just like they weren't itchin to buy that $400-500 console for MGS4 right?
