Forums - Gaming - hardccore/casual talk by fanboys and their ringleaders is idiotic

I want to know for how long is the internet including forums, blogs and google news going to be spammed with the disingenuous obsession that gamers can be divided into "hardcore" and "casual," and that such a division is a sufficient explanation of all the diverse tastes within the gaming community.  That people can be so easily labeled and categorized with such shallow thinking!

How long will we have to endure this pathetic spam?!  When will someone tell these people to shut up, that gamers have a different set of tastes that can only be described in very high levels of detail, and that such a simpleminded classification system is a disingenuous media spin designed by bitter fanboys to discredit Nintendo's success.

When will these people finally shut up.  When will the internet become a place for intelligent discussion rather than the repetition of idiotic talking points?

The fact that you are so annoyed by this makes me wonder if you are sane.

I can't edit titles, as far as I know noone can. And I did read the report, it contained absolutely nothing.

I think he's just trying to drive his point harder, I don't think he's freaking out in a psychotic sense. Then again, I'm betting your post was made in light humor, so I don't know if I should really be replying to it seriously. :P

I agree with the OP in that gamers can't be fitted into the "hardcore or casual" crowd. I have a lot of qualities from both groups, and many of my gaming decisions are based on things that aren't even discussed in the "hardcore vs casual" groups.

People just use "hardcore" and "casual" to try to make themselves feel better, or they're just using the terms because they're just ignorant and not thinking things through clearly. If you've noticed, the definition of "hardcore" changes depending on who's using the term.

Don't worry, once the gamers who used to traditionally play games and feel threatened by the Wii calm down, and as time goes on, these terms will most likely cease to exist.

The thing is intensive nintendo fans are still behind nintendo.  It is really "analysts" and people who hated the Gamecube who make the argument that the wii abandoned its original audience.
