Forums - Nintendo - MySims Reviews - Can EA stuff up again?

Just found the first review for MySims - what seems to be the strongest (new?) EA property for the Wii:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24896.html

6.8/10

Seems pretty fair. Gameplay seems very repetitive, and doubt its the sort of game I could like. But it might get a purchase, as my partner would love to construct a town... I think. Maybe a rental first.

Then again, I never worked out who buys those millions of Sims games. Maybe this will do really well - fits in pretty well with the genre of the Wii.

ouch...did they knock it for being Animal Crossing lite?

They mentioned that Animal Crossing should be better than it, but I doubt it got marked down for it.

General bad points were:

 - minor 'glitches' (some pauses, game "freezes" when game changes from day/night)
 - some control issues (menu options too small, hard to find with Wiimote control), some doors can be hard to get through
 - gameplay is very repetitive - almost becomes a chore. Game gets old
 - bit cliched
 - no multiplayer, online, communication elements (pure single player)

Main positives:

 - easy to play
 - construction of buildings/furniture fun (until it gets old)
 - full control over look/feel of your town
 - looks/feels like Sims, but with Wii-fied characters (work well)

Ouch...I was hoping my sister would like to get this one....I even wanted to play a bit...she probably wouldn't care about these flaws that much though...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The game looks horrible.

I've loved The Sims since 2000, and I would never buy it.

Ever. My favorite game is The Sims 2 for PC, btw.

Have a look at metacritics. The game has an average of 84 and some very good scores.

MySims seems to be very hit or miss depending on the reviewer. It got this 5.8, a 6.8, 2 9's, and a 9.4. IGN hasn't reviewed it yet but Casamassina's preview was glowing with praise. Gamespot also had a fairly positive preview.

I guess it's fair to say if you don't like Animal Crossing you will not like this game but if you do like Animal Crossing you'll probably like this game a lot. Seeing as Animal Crossing has sold over 11 million with 2 games that's more than enough of a fanbase to do work with.

So is it definitely worse than Sims 1 and 2? I imagine if it's on the same level gameplay-wise a lot people will rate it low because they hate the Sims games, but if it's sloppy then I can see it failing badly.

Oh well, certainly not anybody's most anticipated title. =P

The Official Nintendo Magazine gave something like 94%

I'll wait for IGN; they are the ones I trust the most.
