Forums - Gaming - Sony: Wii owns the closet

So I'm wondering here...why again, are people quoting Jack Trennton or whoever was the PR who said this, as Sony as a whole?

When people REALLY want to hate a company, ANYTHING will do.  Plus, it doesn't take much to get people (especially in the US) to be negative towards certain things/people/companies.  It's just Psych 201 at play.

Jack would know about being in the closet well, wouldn't he? =p

If Sony focused on their products instead their awful PR, the the PS3 might actually become a successful product instead of the biggest failure that their video game division has ever released.

Well his right. Atleast at my place. The wii is sometimes connected.. it happens. But my ps3 is connected most of the time. Only time i unplug it is if i bring it somewhere :p

You mean like winning best exclusives for 2008, voice control Singstar patch, Killzone 2, MLB 09:The Show, Flower, Fat Princess, inFamous, Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank Future:A Crack in Time, GoW3, EyePet, Singstar volumes, PlayTV, constant feature improving firmware updates, massive bandwidth increases, etc?  That's not being focused on their products?  If so, I hope they continue the course.

In thinking this further, these kind of PR comments aren't helping Sony at all. They're still the same old Sony, hurling schoolboy insults. "Nintendo is for little kids, Nintendo doesn't cater to the real gamers, Nintendo is not in competition with us, the Wii sits in closets while the PS3 sits in the living room"

The more they speak, the less serious people take them. This is not the business model a developer nor publisher want to be a part of. Games are expensive products that the developer and publisher take very seriously when being put out for the world to play. Acting like a hormonal 13 year old is only going to continue to make people put off by Sony's arrogance.

I didnt think the article was too bad. Anybody that found something offensive in what he said is over-hating. And he didnt say anything about the Wii in the closet, he just quoted it.

Wow.... lol. Sony really don't like Nintendo, but I cant blame them. Sony's history with Nintendo speaks for itself.

Yea. Trying to take control of a company through a joint operations contract is certainly one way to show your feeling about it.

But back to the OP -- comments like this make me wish Sony's sales would triple, because then the company would lose so much money it would go out of business.

Going from first-to-third in baseball is a good thing. Going from first-to-third in business (when there are three companies) is not. Sony should look at what it is doing and how could potentially be losing its superior position permanently in another area of electronics rather than making coy references about the competition.

Remember, this is the company that gave us handheld music and recorded program viewing among its innovations. But it no longer leads in either of those arenas.

ha ha ha this is so funny cause my wii never leaved my closet! My PS3 easily has the most gamer time on it through my whole family, and when even my YOUNGER brother opts to play the PS3 that is saying something how a kiddy system can't even get a kid to play it.
