From what I heard Frog went from a noble speaking Frog to a Frog with a real bad attitude. |
Really? ... That sounds like an awfully odd choice.

More in keeping with the Japanese script.
The script in the Nintendo DS version of Chrono Trigger is fantastic, don't worry about it, and it by no means justifies playing the craptacular PS1 port of it.
The only question here is whether or not you've played Chrono Trigger before. Have you?

Yes. I've played on and off on a SNES emulator and cleared maybe half of the game, I suppose.
If you hadn't played it, I would have just told you to get Chrono Trigger, because every RPG fan needs to play that game at least once.
As-is...
Well do you want one of the best RPGs of all time or a purportedly very good action sandbox lollapalooza?

They also modified a lot of Magus' lines.
Since Frog and Magus are my favorite characters, this bothers me quite greatly. Basically redoing Frog's personality destroyed a majority of the charm he had as a character. I liked Frog as a gallant and noble knight compared to a rude swordsman.

Well, I'll be getting both regardless... Considering my current DS game is Fire Emblem, I think after that maybe I'll want something more fast-paced. So maybe GTA is the right way to go.
Well... I have to say that GTA is good... very good, actually. But Chrono Trigger is better in every way... ;)

I think that's probably the better choice right now, yeah.

I was going to mention this afterwards.
Many people are upset with the changes, but from what I have heard this DS version is actually more in line with the original Japanese script. Many also say the fault lies on the SNES, PS1 versions and not the DS version.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I am one of those people. The script just reads better, to boot.
