Forums - Sony - Valkyria Chronicles sales jump in the US, tops charts in Japan

It's great that a niche game like Valkyria Chronicles has now to oportunity to eventually outsell some of the more comercial J-rpg's for which Microsoft paid.

The budget was probably lower than some of those, it did manage to sell 350k before any price-cut and most of it's fanbase is actually buying the DLC.

And I think I need to mention that I'd pay obscene amounts of money for that Valkyria painting/picture/poster.

I am sure everyone knew that without you needing to mention it.

I also think you should automatically win the VC contest just because you spread more word about this game than anyone else by far. SEGA should send you something for being quite possibly the games biggest fan.

I wish. If I were only closing than a few thousand miles away from SEGA of America where they have had a few events, I'd be there.

I don't want to win the contest only because I already have the figures and the art book. The love needs to be spread.

Of course! Who wouldn't want to play on the side of the awesome Silveria?

Then they should send you that collector's edition they have in Japan and some Outlawauron exclusive trophy support..

The fact that this is so highly rated, that the Playstation brand is considered "the best platform" for JRPGs and yet this has sold so little doesn't speak well to the health of the genre as a whole.

~350k WW sales can't be making any of the creators happy.

I think beyond Japan these JRPGs can't really be considered system-sellers in today's age.

Or, perhaps PS3 owners have spoken about what entertainment titles they want... and they aren't JRPGs.

On the 360, Tales of Vesperia seems to have outlined that there are too many of these types of titles on the 360 for the market to support.

The difference in sales between the two (Vesperia on 360 and Chronicles on PS3) is only 80k units, and that's with Vesperia no longer being produced in the US...

Weird days indeed.

or the fact that its not a JRPG, its a SRPG, which tend to flop on consoles.

Consoles?  More like everywhere.

Im one of those who didnt feel that this was a game much to get excited about. But i downloaded the game last night and it was awesome. I love the cartoonish and artsy design. And i love the strategypart. I also hear that the story is suppose to be great, so ive now placed an order and will receive the game on thursday! :D

Yep. Can't think of SRPG that sold well without Final Fantasy in the title.

Yes spread it to me, even though I dont have a chance in hell of winning that contest.

This made my day alot better...
