I dont care what that article says. 20GB drives dont make any fiscal sense. If MS wanted to put a HDD in the Arcade they would choose the cheapest available. Currently 80GB is the cheapest available drive.

Wii - $250; Nintendo said that they dont need a price cut.

Xbox360 - $199 Arcade with a small HDD; since $199 is the 'sweet spot' so MS will keep it at this price as well no other console will be that low anyways
- $299 Pro with a larger HDD; maybe a 120gb since MS plans to discontinue the Elite this should replace it

PS3 - $299; I know $100 price cut is asking Sony alot in their current financial conditions but its a risk to sell more consoles = sell more games and hope to profit from game sales. A $3XX price is an unattractive price tag to most constomers.

or.... - $399; making the Resistance & Motorstorm bundle permanent or of similar equality.

The Uncharted bundle will be discontinued since Sony said it was only a limited-time bundle so Sony will be left with 1 SKU.

It's not a matter of "infinite resources." The Xbox is a big success this time around and it's doing a great job at generating profit whether it be XBox Live Gold and downloads, accessories, software, etc. What it comes down to is they actually have resources generated from their current machine.

The first huge pricefall for PS3 was much due to a huge make over from the 60gb version. Smaller HDD, removal of PS2 hardware, removal of SACD hardware, less UDB ports.

The step was more like 499 to 399 since the 20gb model are more like the 40gb model.

This time they don't have any hardware to cut back, only hope of production cost goes down. But going down to a level where they can afford a 100 dollar price cut.....NO WAY.

They will do a 50 dollar cut before the end of the year. Hopefully later this years so they can ride that wave on the holiday sale like MS did. If they do it around E3 as suggested they will give MS the chance to counter that with a cut after the summer.
