The first huge pricefall for PS3 was much due to a huge make over from the 60gb version. Smaller HDD, removal of PS2 hardware, removal of SACD hardware, less UDB ports.
The step was more like 499 to 399 since the 20gb model are more like the 40gb model.
This time they don't have any hardware to cut back, only hope of production cost goes down. But going down to a level where they can afford a 100 dollar price cut.....NO WAY.
They will do a 50 dollar cut before the end of the year. Hopefully later this years so they can ride that wave on the holiday sale like MS did. If they do it around E3 as suggested they will give MS the chance to counter that with a cut after the summer.
So:
Wii - 249 (includes Motion Plus before the end of the year with both Sport and Resort)
360 - 149 Euro Arcade - 219 Euro Pro (same HDD) - 249 Euro Elite
PS3 - 349 Euro and 399 Euro
Predictions for 2009:
360: 39-42 PS3: 31-34 Wii: 67-70
Future projection
Wii will hit 100 million before christmas 2010 (made december 2008)
NDS Family will have sold and shipped more then PS2 at the end of 2009 (made january 2009)
