The characters are quite important to RPG's I'd say. At the very least there should be character development.

I hate to rag on you, I'm not out to get you I promise.

But did you just say Noctis sounds almost exactly like Squall just with an entirely different personality and character traits.

I liked Squall,

he would have these internal monologues expressing exactly how he feels, followed by him actually saying "whatever" or "I don't care". It made the moment when he finally outwardly expressed his emotions (rescuing Rinoa from freezing) that much more rewarding.
