Forums - Nintendo - So who bought Broken Sword : Secret of the Templars Directors Cut ?

On topic, finally:
I haven't bought it yet, but I will definitely buy Broken Sword for the third time (already bought this great and highly recommendable classic adventure game twice for PC), but only when the Wii version is at least 10€ cheaper than the current price of 50€. I hope they drop the price soon.

@okr

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

I bought it for €40 and it's even €30 at some online shops. Searching online can be very valuable.

Thanks guys, but you don't have to convince me, I'll buy it anyway.

A few posts earlier I said I'll wait, but I know I can't resist and I'll own this game sooner than planned. I always have to support developers of good point&click games, even if it means I have to re-buy a lost copy or a remake of a beloved game. It's in my blood ever since LucasArts infected me with the Secret of Monkey Island. Curse you, Ron Gilbert & Tim Schafer! Soon you'll be wearing my sword like a shish kebab!

i recommend anyone who likes these types of games should check out "Dreamfall : The Longest Journey"

its not really point and click , but its good :]

I was going to buy it and play it with my girlfriend, but from the screenshots I showed her she wasn't impressed. She didn't like the graphic style (being a graphic designer and a bit critical).

So I'm currently waiting for Secret Files II.

Wow, I couldn't disagree with your gf more. Broken Sword is absolutely beautiful. The 2D drwings are gorgeous, completely different from the pretty standard graphics in Secret Files.

I think she didn't like the way characters look, and I have to say I agree - compared to the scenery, they look crudely drawn and don't really fit in. But I admit that the backgrounds are nice.

Actually I think both games, Broken Sword and Secret Files, look a bit bland... personally I prefer my point & click adventures a bit crazier. I'm a big fan of those famous LA classics (Dott, MI1&2), and the more realistic adventures like BS, SF or Runaway hardly interest me - but you have to take what you can get, right?

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

I agree with Benga here regarding art style, and you don't have to wait for Secret Files 2, ElRhodeo; it's been released in Germany months ago.

We'd rather play the Wii version... it's going to be out in may, I think.

I will buy it once it hits the bargain bin. It is a ubisoft game and it will end up there eventually.

This looks interesting. I wish that somebody would resurrect the Myst series on the Wii.

That or some graphical remakes of Zork...

So did some of you like Secret Files?

I found it really disappointing, the puzzles were easy, the story had nothing to do with the Tunguska incident (it was a plot device only), the story wasn't very interesting, it wasn't very entertaining. The game was quite short for a point and click.

Overall a big disappointment for me.

You mean Secret Files 1?

I think it was solid. Not spectacular or anything, but it was logical, long enough, and well put together. Of course it cannot compare to any of the LA gems from the early 90s...

Don't know why LA doesn't make them like these anymore. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam&Max, Grim Fandango - those games were so special and weird. All you get in today's adventures is uninspired realistic settings, some lame-ass conspiration, a professor, a charmless protagonist. Yaaaaaaawn. Undercover, Runaway, Secret Files... it's all the same. Playing it safe.
