- skills are now easier to use(you can select 3 casters and use the same spell on 3 different areas, the AI will do the rest)

You will need less APM(actions per minute for teh noobs), that way you can concentrate more in your strategy.

Exactly my thoughts, I haven't seen anything more micro intensive than the first Starcraft.

Guess you haven't played Red Alert 3. Every unit in that game has a secondary ability as well. He should probably just steer clear of RTS games in general.
