Forums - Sony - Do PS3 have potential for doing 40k+ consistently in Japan after price drop

Just wandering that for past two weeks PS3 has been doing well even without major releases.. but its doing well only because Wii is doing terrible. i mean to say that selling 16 - 20k per week is nothing amazing.

So i was just wandering maybe people want to buy PS3 and there is enough demand for PS3 but in this terrible economic condition people are not willing to spend large sum of money on a video console. and once PS3 price drops it will start doing around 40K+ per week regularly in Japan even without major game releases.

So maybe over all PS3 is more present in the people's wishlist than any other console.

ps. PS2 use to have sales of over 50k in a normal week in Japan.

It is definitely a possibility.
Pricecut + FFXII/VXIII = PS3 winning 2009, 2010, 2011 etc.

Did somebody thought that a pricecut'll be necessary for PS3 at the beginning of this generation?

i thought the only reason it was up high was because of new big releases and now going back to the 10k range? I mean didn't resident evil 5 and some other big games come out in japan recently. was it like yakuza 3 or something as well.

Considering the release date of FFXIII, I would remove 2009 from that list.

If its an equivalent to a $100 in the US, then yes... around 30-40k a week.

Yeah, every day I see a post or an article saying "Oh, if they get a pricecut for the PS3..... then......"
