Forums - Gaming - Will Wii fans be as loyal as PS2 fans come next generation.

Anything could happen next generation and it could be a lot different outcome. Noone would ever of predicted Wii would of been as successful as it is today  5 years ago. In  5 years  from now it could be anyone of  Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft with the winning next generation console .

PS2 fans have well spread out their loyalties come 7th generation: wii, X360 or PS3 owners. Wii onwers this generation could well be one of  XBox 3D, PS4 or Wii HD owners.

Loyalty  counts for nothing for the average person when choosing a game console.

First of all you can't say PS2 fans have been very loyal.

With that said, I firmly believe Wii owners will be even less loyal.

Of course, u asked about "fans", fans are more loyal than just "owners".

I'll just say this. There's a portion of Wii owners who still don't know how to use a dual analog controller and never will. So they'll stick to Wii HD (or even just Wii) unless someone offers something comparable and more enticing.

i won't.
i got the wii first this gen, but likely last next.

wow

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

I doubt it.

Unless the Wii 2 executes a strategy just as nearly perfect as the Wii did.

All depends on what the next gen consoles will be like.

For me, though? It's about a 99% certainty that I'll get Nintendo first next gen, since I've gotten Nintendo first every gen except last one (because GC wasn't out and my bro wanted us to get a PS2). Nintendo are my boys :p

it depends. Who knows how many of these owners will even upgrade. For most of them unless the Wii HD or whatever has some new compelling way to play a game then i cant see most of them upgrading at all. Most of them dont care about the latest and greatest so the wii will last them a LONG time

Long Live SHIO!

trick question, the answer is no. They are potentially only aware of one brand in videogames and that is Nintendo. Of course if another competitor releases a console thats more fun than anything Nintendo can do (extremely unlikely) it might have competition for keeping mainstream audiences.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Well actually most PS2 owners stayed PS2 owners and haven't bought a new console. People are still actually choosing to pay for PS2s over any of the newer consoles.

I expect the Wii to go the same way. It can easily put a dent in all 3 consoles next generation, and many people won't upgrade. They've got Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and a handful of other games, the entire Virtual Console to explore, and they're set for life.

But I also agree with Gamerace, and think the new Wii fans might be a little more loyal because they've never used a dual analog controller and don't want to.

So in conclusion, I have no idea.
