Although I seriously, seriously doubt anyone here clicks on the "you have 60 seconds to click on the button before you lose 3.5 billion dollars" adverts, it is part of the site's revenue stream. Otherwise, one would have to be, quite literally, MAD to have these obnoxious ads cluttering an otherwise good site.

well I hate to turn this into another what browser is better argument, but I should note that as a Safari user, I had no idea that there were any pop ups.

I see some decent paying tower and banner ads so I don't see the reason for the Caselemedia pop up. Just saw some others too.

I know a lot of times a webmaster will put a bunch of different types of ads up as a means to test which ones are most intrusive and which ones pay the best (there is no hard and fast answer). At least he's not using interstitial ads....like IGN.

Even though I have a pop up blocker on, I still get the pop up no matter with IE or FF. I don't get the pop up everytime I visit this website or else I won't be here anymore as it's indeed very annoying. Only thing to do to avoid this is as soon as the browser blocks the add to close the browser and to restart it.
