Forums - PC - PC Gaming will reclaim the throne during the last half of this Console Gen.

This is nothing new though, since this pattern sort of repeats itself every generation. When I say "reclaim the throne", I mean in terms of Gfxs, overall quality of the big releases and the 'sheer awe' gamers experience when playing through all the Superb Quality PC Games. It happened during the second half of the PS1/N64 gen (5th gen), with Half-Life, CounterStrike etc.

As a hardcore PCgamer I'm looking forward to all the yet to be announced PC games. 'Core' companies like Valve will lead the way!

Cheers!

I'm sad HL2 STILL hasn't been topped when it comes to shooter single-player experience....
Can't wait for the things to start getting pushed again.

So what specific games are we waiting for?

Or should they be new IP's

Valve games have appeared on consoles.
Crytek has made a console engine.
Where should the games be coming from?

I doubt Valve will gimp their graphics etc. for consoles. Probably just make a cheap port liek they always do. Also blizzard, throw it in there. I'm hoenstly hoping for a UT3.5 that doesn't suck as well and you never what new studio will appear. CryTek games are shitty btw.

Bethesda gave us Fallout 3 and are currently working on TES:V

Blizzard as already mentioned.
Valve

There are lot's of good PC oriented developers out there.

I don't think Fallout 3 is great, especially if you've played Fallout 1 & 2. So Bethesda, for me, is on the average pile of developers.

Normally this rule is very true, but we're already halfways into the generation and there is not a single PC game announced that looks to be graphically very superior to console versions, not one exclusive, not one multiplatform. Zero.

And it usually takes at least 1.5 years from announcement to release, especially for the graphically high tech games, and by that time this gen will be almost over. So basically this gen looks like it will be the same quality on consoles versus PC, and that is very unique. And fascinating, that consoles have become comparatively so strong.

Speaking of Bethesda. I love Bethesda, they make the best games. My bet is that the console version of TES5 will be the same as the PC version, just like Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 was (theyll probably use an updated Gamebryo engine again).

Crysis came out in 2007 and is better looking than anything on the HD twins. An almost 2 year old game. KZ2 is a nice improvement, but as a whole PC games took the lead a while back. You just need a beefy rig.
